So, for making money - Type 9 or Orca (or Beluga)

Didn't they nerf Rhea?

I'm thinking if I do long range passenger missions I can rank up exploration as well (and unlock Palin - side bonus) so long as I bring the scanners. It's definitely not good credits-per-hour but the payouts are pretty large and I'll have gained some exploration ranks.

I'm also thinking I might want to hold off on Type 9 until I see what the Type 10 is all about.

I don't know, I'm conflicted. I've relied on bounty hunting and a little bit of Quince cheesing for money, but it's not enough to upgrade and operate a corvette like I want.

Nerfed, yes. Dead, no.

It used to be about 3 to 4 times more per trip, which meant end game ships in a few hours (although you had to get one first, or go slightly slower with a smaller ship like a python of type 7).

People are just whining becuase it takes longer, but it's still one of the best money making places in the game. At least try it before disregarding it, you'll likely be surprised.

With the exploration, the passengers are a bonus to the honking you do along the way, just so you know. And why not take that bonus?

Anaconda is a possibility for passenger missions and exploration but that blows my corvette budget completely and I just finished the navy grind the other day. I want a vette before conda.
I know it isn't real a sexy idea, but since you're getting one anyway, why not equip your 'Vette to run passengers and/or cargo? It's got less room than a 'Conda, and it's jump range isn't as good the fish, but if you get interdicted near Calcutta or Detroit, it's well armed.

If you gotta go with a cheaper substitute, I agree with Mrat about the T-7. For the sticker price, it's tough to beat for what it can do. I wouldn't trust the Otto pilot.

If cold hard cash the most important factor here, you can't beat the 'Conda for economy passenger runs, over Macho Grande. Those extra internals run...pretty deep.

Oh and btw, I've googled plenty of "guides" on money making and they all mention either Quince or in the latest ones Rhea. That includes youtube guides.

Both Quince and Rhea have been nerfed into obscurity, neither are viable at this point for making a lot of credits in a relative short time. There are other system outside the bubble that are still viable though, you just have to find them. In my current home system I am making 60-70m cr/hour doing snowflake passenger missions, the only down side is that I have to go back to the bubble everything I upgrade or engineer a module in my Corvette. Get a ship where you can fit 8+ cabins and you can find a system where the credits will stack up pretty quickly.
