So I actually decided to buy a paint pack, but...

...found it no longer exists. I thought I was just going crazy, but then searched around and found out that FDev does this a lot; they put up stuff temporarily and then take it down; you never actually see EVERYTHING on the store at once.

A lot of stuff is only available around the holidays.

FDev, you must have a bunch of senile dodos in your marketing department. Allow me to elucidate:

Having worked for my country's largest cellular phone company in a call center, I know that the holidays are the tightest time of year financially for most normal people. Gifts to buy, parties to host, it's expensive stuff. The numbers of people calling in trying to shave just $5 or $10 off their cellular phone bill those last three months of the year was just unbelievable.

And that's the time of year that FDev chooses to make available many limited access items. Brilliant. Not only are people busy and likely to miss things they might be inclined to buy, they are strapped for cash.

FDev, your current marketing schemes need some work. Your paid products are largely "impulse buy" items, but you take away the ability for your end users to impulse buy.

So here I was, ready to spend real money, but I can't because the product is arbitrarily not up in the store. I bet I'm not the only one either; and I rarely spend real money on digital goods compared to many.

The impression I have of FDev is of a cash-strapped seat-of-the-pants operation, and if there's any veracity to my impressions, the truth is, FDev, you have no one to blame but yourselves.

I guess you inadvertently saved me money, so thanks.

I know a few items are only on the store for limited times, or season stuff (like the Christmas trees) but they do come back at times. I guess it can also happen with paint packs?
Prices also can go on sale, so it pays to check back now and then.

I think you are talking about limited time offers OP.

It happens, also in the industry you work in.
Not exactly, no. Sure there are deals, discounts, BOGO specials, switch incentives. And newer stuff rolls out all the time, but older phones and accessories never just... disappear and become entirely unavailable.

And that's an apples and oranges comparison anyways. You NEED a cell phone in the modern world, if the exact one you want hasn't been released yet or is on backorder, you can bet most people will get a rental for the interim. Digital goods aren't necessities, there is no incentive to buy if the product you want is unavailable.

It would make much more sense to have everything available all the time, but offer discounts on special occasions.
