So I am moving to Lave because I hear that there are some massive bounties to be collected...

I sold my viper, bought and kitted out a t6 and ran rares from my old home to Leesti, where I made a nice little bundle of credits. I have bought a shiny new Viper at George Lucas station and as I am kitting it out to my preference, I noticed that George's shipyard doesn't sell the A3 power plant. I had expected a high tech shipyard to have the A3. Does anyone know where I can pick up an a3 power plant within about 15 ly from Leesti?

I can't help you with your question, but I too keep reading about Lave. It almost sounds like 20% of the total playerbase resides in Lave.

Why? What makes it so special?

It's sort of Elite's spiritual home. It was the system everyone started in back in '84

I'm rather dissapointed with the lack of others at Lave... made it my home, for nolstalgic reasons, as well as the fact it's always obvious in the galactic map when I'm out exploring.
Saw a couple of good people there - but everyone try and be more friendly...

Lave is where it all began. I'm somewhat ashamed to say I still haven't visited the original systems. Wars have kept me busy.

Shinrarta will have one, it's not far from Leesti but beyond 15LY

+1 for Lave.

Reasonably populate...thrilling to trade (read frightening) or exciting to bounty hunt/pirate (read challenging) good mix of trade routes, systems alliance, independant, anarchy and fed all within a couple of jumps...nearest empire is a bit pesky but with a decent drive you can get there (Codorain from memory).

Some good trading, espescially if you trade between factions. Fed prices always seem lower to me.

The only meh is that the 2 systems with civil war...don't actually have war zones :(
