Newcomer / Intro So I barely touched ring...

How do I get out of it?
This is the type of stuff that's fun stopping and just dumb.
Can fly for an hour an any direction and can't hyper out. I barely touched it on accident.

Turn until you are looking out of the ring into empty space, fly in that direction and as soon as you get far enough from the ring you will be able too jump.

I barely touched the outside, reappeared in the middle, miles of asteroids in every direction. I tried to fly out it would have taken forever, so i went straight up for a long time, still couldn't jump out. So when you say "out of the ring" you mean where? the outer edge? And what am I getting scanned for, stealing rocks? :D

No, the ring is a flat disk of rocks, you want to fly at a 90 degree angle to the disk, look for an area that has got no rocks in it and fly towards it.

Easier way, if you have got no cargo onboard, log out then log back in and you will be a short distance from the ring, just turn away from the ring and you will be able to jump.

You get scanned by police and or pirates shortly after arriving in a ring, the police will go away when they see you don’t have a criminal record, the pirates will go away after they have seen that you aren’t carrying anything other than limpets in your hold. Of course if either of them find what they are looking for they will attack you.

Target the planet then turn to face the planet then spin so that the ring makes a horizontal line across the disc of the planet then pull up to put the planet directly beneath your ship in the compass fly in that direction till the mass lock light goes out. When you resume cruise give ringed planets more room to avoid crashing out again.

Oh my.

OK, I will not make childish innuendo. it is really hard though.

Rings are never very thick, if you are "fly[ing] for an hour an any direction and can't hyper out" then you are flying along the ring plane. So, turn 90° up or down and fly out. It seriously is not at all difficult to see where you are in the ring plane so I find it hard to see this OP as anything other than nonsense.

It's very odd. I did what exactly that, that's what I meant by "flying up". I flew for 3-4 minutes and still couldn't jump. When I logged back in I was in the same spot but could jump. So either there was something going on I was not aware of, totally possible, or it was some sort of bug.

Have you got hard points and/or cargo sccop/landing gear deployed?

When I logged back in today I hit the button and she shot right out of there so I don't know. Then I did an FSS scan to finish my job and the scans were all corrupted. I had to log again to fix that. This planet hates me. :D
I was having fun last night flying around in my new Asp Explorer until I touched that ring!

I know exactly what hes described.
His FSD got to the charge point where it should jump, but wouldn’t !
I get that on occasion. It seems to be a burp. But pretend you’ve got a hydrogen vapor lock in your injection manifold and you won’t get so aggravated. 😁
I usually get it cleared by disengagement of the FSD,
throttle down to zero. Re-engage the FSD and BOOST the throttle at the last moment.
Sometimes a do have to re-log.
Its even more aggravating when you’re being attacked, trying to jump out.
Rather than lose my ship because of it I quickly log Off.

Hydrogen vapor lock. I love it! :)
Can I use that?

It's actually nice to get the hang of being in/around rings. One of the visually-prettiest things in the game (imo) is when you're flying towards a ring to drop. It can be very pretty.

There are good tips here in the posts already made. Allow me to summarize:
In order to use your FSD (to enter supercruise or to perform a hyperspace jump):
Cargo hatch closed
Landing gear up
Hardpoints (weapons) stowed
Out of mass lock
Throttle up (to max generally)
Vectors aligned with ship's orientation (flying in the direction that you're pointing)
Additionally, for a hyperspace jump: pointed at the jump-target
Wow, that's a long list! What did I miss? :)

Enjoy learning, CMDR. Don't be afraid to ask questions here. Lots of CMDRs will try to assist you.

Huh, never heard of someone getting stuck in a ring before. Next you'll be telling us you got lost in a nebula.
Perhaps you could take the time to actually read the OP then the replies and gather intel in order to be able to post a more intelligent and educated 🧐 insight rather than jumping in blind just to pop someones cork.
Or perhaps you shouldn’t have said anything at all? 🤔

This is indeed the place to ask all manner of game-play questions and be able to expect some assistance. I think it's a great resource for beginners and seasoned CMDRs alike.
👍👍
For that same reason it’s pretty short sighted for a player to ignorantly post something that would discourage a player from asking even the smallest of questions. There’s a rarely spoken but nonetheless understood rule here on the forums “Theres no such thing as a stupid question“.

The game is so varied in types of gameplay that some are very experienced in some things and can be very inexperienced in others.
