So I bought an Imperial Courier...

Frontier support fixed my Imperial Navy rank problem (I'd been trying to advance for two days but the missions never promoted me), so I flew to Shinrarta and sold my relatively poorly equipped Asp for a very well equipped Imperial Courier.

I've taken it out and flown it a bit... It feels as nimble as my Eagle, and probably faster... And certainly a lot more heavily armed. I've only had it maybe an hour or so, but I already have to share my opinion on it. And the best way I can think of to express it is this:

Neither as nimble, nor as fast as an Eagle. But yea - i enjoy my Courier as well. Designed it as Smuggler, for the days and hours i want to do something different than your usual trading.

Love my A class imperial courier. Cockpit is real sexy. Can't wait till there is an imperial frigate. I will sell my Anaconda so fast.

The only real thing I dont like about my courier...is the sound it makes when boosting....to me, sounds like an elephant letting out a long fart.
Its the most unique sound I have found ingame so far.

Are you sure that game sound is on? :D

Yes...thats how I hear the boost sounds from the courier...a loud baffle type of roar...different from my Dimondback, Vulture, Sidey,T-6, Viper, cobra...almost like an adder but louder and baffled sound. Perhaps its just my pc/sound card?

Counterquestion - you've ever flown a Clipper? :D

Admittedly, I've never had an Eagle in A rated gear... but my Eagle never broke 400 at full boost... My Courier cruises at 295 and boosts to slightly over 400.

I'm liking it a lot so far - it's fast. feels good to fly, has decent range for a fighter, and isn't too costly to A-rate.

The one drawback I'm finding so far is that the power distributor isn't quite good enough to support triple medium weapons - even with relatively energy-efficient pulse lasers it can't sustain fire for more than about 10 seconds. They still deliver quite a kick, but against anything bigger than a Cobra there's a fair amount of sit-and-wait while the weapons recharge.

Anyone have any recommendations for weapon loadout for general PvE bounty hunting?

There's a bit of an annoying spread... You could always go with beams on the nacelles and one plasma accelerator under the main hull... It sort of depends on what type of ships you're intending to fight.

Lots of little fighters and stuff... I'd go with the dual beams. But if you expect to have to take on anything bigger than a Viper at some point, the dual plasma gives you the punch you need. I bought the ship intending to use it for farming PP merits through 15 merit undermining kills... Which means my targets are going to be Adders (Weak enough that the one beam is all I really need anyway), Type 6s, 7s, and 9s most of the time. And the Lakons are big targets and easy to tag with the plasma.
