So I Convinced Some Friends To Play Elite...

I convinced a couple of friends to try out Elite: Dangerous, and I'm sad to say that they all qui-- Oh no wait, we appear to be enjoying the game so much that we started our own little facebook club (hidden from spouses: ) to swap hints and cool things we've encountered. We've got one guy who seems to be delving into trading, some bounty hunters, and me slowly building up my Cobra to go explore Eta Carinae (Coal Sack was my first expedition, well worth it!). We are all looking forward to the grouping features that are around the corner. I think I was supposed to complain about something at some point? I am not sure... I suppose I should humbly request some scarier npcs to fight, since the Elite Anacondas don't feel all that Elite anymore. Perhaps special group missions would do the trick?

Gee this was supposed to be so much more negative, sorry fellas :(

where is the railing against the game mechanics? the screaming that the game isn't fair cause you died. not even a threat to quit.

most disappointing post, didn't you read the script?

:p

Ah they improve as your rank increases? Great! Do the payouts for the assassination missions adjust to compensate?

I suppose I might grumble about the meagre three deaths I had at the hands of a player controlled Cobra back when I was tooling about in an Eagle... But I take care not to fly what I can't afford to lose :)

I was really hesitating in recommending this to one friend, but he bought it himself and has played non-stop to the exclusion of other games.

It seems players either get really immersed in what we have now (not saying there is no room for improvement) and seem to create their own adventures with what we've got to play with, or they need more to get involved perhaps with more -in depth missions etc and seem to lose interest. Is this really a surprise?
