So I got an Asp

Yep shield class/grade make a big difference in collisions. The only way my Cobra could survive a fast head on collision (with military bulkhead) was with a A4 shield. That has saved me insurance 3 times now (one of those was with a shieldless Imperial Clipper). Glancing collisions are a bit more forgiving.

Another good tip

What do you mean when you say you couldn't afford to buy back your Cobra? Why would you buy it back when it was your Asp you crashed?

Insurance... I couldn't afford their insurance.

I'd popped my Asp, and paid its insurance. It left me with no money. Despite having a Cobra AND an Asp handy, I couldn't afford their insurance.

If you can't afford to lose it, don't fly it.

asps, i remember thee fondly, as i splattered 3 of you during beta :D (yeah, back to a sidewinder twice, at least i learned then :D) i do remember overshooting a lot with it and that its bigger mass has a lot of inertia specially when you run full engines (not as bad as a type 9 i imagine but noticeable still) and if you think repairs on a asp are bad, try a python. flying one of those w/o shields teaches you to land VERY carefully 1-2 % hull damage can cost more then some ships new :)

So far with the ASP, I hate facing off against Vipers.. they fly loops around me. I do win most fights, but it's annoying as hell as I spend most of my time trying to catch up or reverse loop lol
