Here's four of the ones I've done ...

I believe there are plugins that can recreate the background automagically, but I've done these myself manually.

I started doing it as something for Psykokow to use in his weekly quiz, the idea being you'd have to guess the movie from the poster, but the name of the movie, or any other identifying text would be missing, such as Tom Cruise's name on Cocktail's poster. I would also pixelize the block of text at the bottom with names of stars of the movie and director etc. Then it became a way to practice my image editing skills.

Try that with book covers. or guess what product the advert is promoting.

You could also take 80's TV advertisements from Luxembourg and let ppl guess what the product is.
