So I got my Oculus Rift...

Hearing so many good things about the rift I was looking at getting one for a while. But I have been on the fence due to having an eye problem. I was very worried I would be useless to me as I could not find any real information on how it would work with someone who has a corneal graft in one eye.
So I decided to get one and try it out for myself so I could test it long term.

Set-up was easy.
The demo scene looked acceptable.
Tried a few interesting demo's.

After a little play around the weekend came and I decided to get her working with the main game I brought her for.
So I fired up ED to try out the first few Training Missions with it..

HOLEY MOTHER!
*picks jaw up off the floor*

Everything looks so much bigger..It feels like I'm sitting in the ship..
After using it for a few hours with my save now I have to say.. Elite Dangerous is not the same game with a rift.. It's an "Experience"

The resolution is not quite there with the Dk2 which makes the small text slightly blurry at times. But I knew about this well before ordering. It is however very playable.
My one and only gripe using it with ED which I know others will agree with me on.. Is the Galaxy map. its very cumbersome to use and select systems.

My eye does not effect me with the rift any more than real life which I am delighted with. I get some minor blurring on that eye because of it but I just turn my head slightly to compensate when it happens so it's no real problem.

I have to give a big hats off to the Graphics team at Frontier. Elite is just beautiful with the rift. I can only imagine how it will look once we can land and walk on planets.
I can't want to see the consumer version later this year.

I felt almost exactly the same way, except my experience was with the sound. I dusted off my old Turtles and loaded up the game. The sounds I have been missing out on, my god. The bass drop before boosting, the ship creaking on turns, the FSD charging up, whispers of witchspace, and the freaking noises fuel scooping makes. It was a whole new experience. Good job Sound Team as well.

Glad to know I can get that again once I decide to get an oculus myself.

Audio is class in ED. Very well done.
I have an occulus thrift that I run at 960x1080 and I find the text is incredibly hard to read, gives me a headache. I just hope the DK2 is better resolution or image quality than what I get. I hope the consumer version is affordable because I want one so much.
