So i guess there speed limits now

"The player’s throttle will limit itself to the speed limit, although the player can overrule the limiter and speed if they want to"

How would that work with a HOTAS? So I'm at full speed and the ship auto-slows, how do I speed up again!? :p
You plug in a second HOTAS and go full throttle on that one, too.

I don't even understand what you said! :D

Mike's probably cleared up the slowdown that was mentioned so maybe it's moot, but...

If I was at full throttle and the game stuck to the speed limit (i.e. slowed me down when I got within the speed limit zone) then how could I override that and speed up? My throttle would already be at it's physical limit.

Pull it back, even a tiny bit - just enough for the game to recognise a new value for the axis - then back up again, that should (reasonably) over-ride the speed limiter.

In my car, as well as cruise control, there is a "not to be exceeded" speed limiter (optional, I should stress). When this is engaged, small increases in throttle input are ignored. To exceed the set limit the throttle needs to be prodded firmly.

I welcome this change.

Its even more realistic to have a speed limit in an heavy traffic area.

According to what ive seen in game a lot of players need to slow down in the stations.
I dunno if its their lack of flying skill or they think they are "king" of the station. But ive seen so many crashing into others at full speed to either destroy the other players ship or them self. Also some that tend to go at full speed into the station entrance just to bump into another player that is on the opposite direction.

Whit slower speed its hard to destroy some others ship and it lessen the frustration to get blown up and have to start all over ( That many have complained about)

I also agree.

As do I. I couldn't help but wonder if the dumbing down has begun already. I noticed the 'super cruise' aid too. Which really removes all the brain from the process so its now 'make it blue @ win' mini game stuff. Sheesh. This because a few people posted 'its too hard, it makes me brain!' threads?

I also think extra docking aids are not needed neither are speed limits etc. Let's keep this the thinking man's game, eh? Personally I find travelling from station to station incredibly tedious already -the 'oh its almost 0 LS, oh there's another 3 mins of KM countdown, oh I have to spend another 3 mins burning to the station, find the entrance, request docking' .. now you can add on 'oh I have to do this at 20 ms? another 3 mins .. '

C'mon FDEV. Infinate freedom != nanny state!

I'll go adjust my blood sugar levels now. Heh. *slopes off to make toast

I'm okay with speed limits, but I don't like them taking away control of my ship. Make it illegal to speed. Provide a warning, then fines. Consequences, not restrictions.

I totally agree with you. Accidents whilst speeding negate ship insurance.
