So I Had A Dream Last Night....

An actual dream, not just my usual daydreams or looney ideas. Lol

Anyhoo, I was in Elite, coming to visit the Thargoid base in HIP-whatever, only the base was on a dead planet with an atmosphere.
:D

The base was on the dark side of the planet, which was far darker than normal, because the base was also shrouded in clouds.

Flying down towards the base, all I could see was my headlights reflecting off the rain and clouds. Once I got beneath the cloud base things cleared up a bit. Still raining. Not sure what it was raining, but it was something.

Anyhow, it was pitch black, and i couldn't make out the horizon, so I flew down to a 500m, to use my lights to see the terrain. The base was a few KM away yet, but I'd still not seen any indication of it.

Then.

A massive flash of lightning, and a loud rumble, and I see the silhouette of the spires of the alien base light up around me. It looked amazing.

And then I woke up. Lol

For a little while I thought it was real, and in game, then I remembered it's not yet. But I'm hoping it's coming soon™.

The dream itself was probably brought on by the combination of visiting the alien base a few times, and keeping an eye on the weather because there was supposed to be a storm in Shrewsbury today, and I love storms. Plus I'm too hot. But once again. Let down by the damn RNG weather. :p

But now I really want atmospheric Landings on dead worlds. Weather would be nice, dynamic weather even better. :p

Chop chop FD. :p

Anyone else have dreams about Elite?

Interesting thread...
I never dream about games, not about Elite or anything else... Except once did it ever happen and it was for Morrowind, where it became just like real life (it looked so incredibly real) and I was an armoured knight wielding two maces in a deep, sandy walled, dusty dungeon. I was attacked by two other knights but as I smashed their helm armour with my furious blows there was NOTHING inside of it!

Ironically I don`t ever use maces in Morrowind the game itself always preferring a long sword, so why did I have maces? Maybe I knew deep down they would be more effective against armoured enemies.

Also, I wonder if the fact that the enemy knights were empty inside was telling me that playing such games was nothing? Empty?

Damn cool dream.

I've only once dreamed of elite, I was new and really enthusiastic, and just started a trip offshore, and I was dreaming I was fixing a hardpoint on an imperial courier of the heli-deck of the I was aboard at the time. Woke up knackered!

Way back in the 1980's when I had Elite on the good ol' Speccy 128k,
I took them over to a mates' house and we had a weekend session drinking beer, killing bad guys and Thargoids, as you do.

Next time I went over to visit, his girlfriend wasn't too pleased with me, cos it seems he kept her awake at night yelling "Jump" and "Nuke 'em", while he was asleep.

I dont remember dreaming about Elite much, except for the spinning starfield and letterbox on coriolis approach :)
And yes, it was in black and white :)

I don't dream but sometimes I somehow fight with the games during night. Than I sleep very badly and somewhere between dream and being awake I have to do games stuff over and over again until I really get up, get somethig to drink, some fresh air on the balcony, and maybe, with some luck, I can sleep better afterwards.

This happens typically when new games getting too intense.

I sometimes dream about Elite; due to over playing or getting too into the game, but very rarely. I once started having constant dreams about RuneScape (I can hear the cries; that is so soo sad), because I was skilling up to the levels of my partners spawn; in an effort to set goals for him.

As to the O.P. dream. Wishful thinking or wish fulfilment dreaming, basically. Do you have a desire to see such things, in the future of the game?

I do dream about the game when I've played a lot that day. Unfortunately it's never anything cool like this, it's just abstracted stuff about menus and stats. It's like the form of that stuff without any content. I've had the same in the past with other games such as Skyrim, after playing to the point of exhaustion.
