So I just arrived at Banki to take part in the community event. . . really?

Just fyi, if you spent the time to travel before coming here to complain you'd have noticed there's conflict zones right next to the station you need to report to..

Oh -- I did not see that, my apologies

I just arrived at Antonio de Andrade vista. There is high intensity conflict zone nearby...

ditto (I'm currently travelling the 50k in Kharsiri)

well lucky me, the whole banki community goal is bugged for me. made the super fun journey, signed up and hopped to a nearby conflict zone to only find out i can only choose the rebel faction. on top of that the station is not selling any weapons or modules. such a great game this is...

I went to khasiri last night. Watching a Capitol ship arrive was awesome, I highly recommend taking a look. However I'm not sure if it's a bug or the new friendly fire system but after about 5 kills I'm flying along and randomly my own side just open up on me, I'm pretty sure I didn't hit anyone, it happened to my mate too.. twice... my hull dropped quicker than the automated turrets in aliens. Boom 3mil, gone. yeah yeah don't worry trolls I could afford it, just saying, if you go, watch yourself.

Banki is certainly dangerous now that its war involves a community goal. It went from being too easy to being... well, a warzone :) But when I turned in my war bonds I had no idea it had to be at a certain station, especially given that both stations in Banki are owned by the Gold Gang. Good to know, though. Fortunately I only turned in about 150k in bonds, so no biggie I suppose.

Oh, and while you folks are in Banki, be mindful of this: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=115094

Can't wait to see yall out there :D

Dumb comment of the day. Space is also curated and putting a community goal in a location that far out, when it's something that people are expected to repeat numerous times, is stupid. Same complaint was made in beta regarding the distance from the primary of the food objective, seems FD don't listen. CG are unimaginative and grindy at best, making them even more mind numbing isn't smart if you want people to actually participate.

(this being said as somebody currently thousands of light years from the nearest inhabited system. Yes, space is big and I can deal with it.)

But it's not FDev who "place" those community goals, they emerge due to the background simulation, don't they?

As a loyal Lt in the Federation I just travelled over 200LY to Banki in my Cobra to take part in the community goal.

The station you need to report to is >500,000 Ls from the Nav Point (and the conflict zones are only a few hundred Ls from the Nav Point).

The last time I travelled 450 000 Ls it took me 20 mins of supercruise. Now I don't hate supercruise - but I would rather be doing other things.

I assume I would have to do the trip at least a few times to cash in bounties etc.

WHY FD???????? I was excited to take part in this but there is just no way . . .

Does anyone know if Khasiri is a more player-friendly situation (before I waste my time flying there) . . .

Cheers :)

i think your lucky. i have to travel over 1,050,000 Ls to a station for trading... sympathy = 0.

:)

FDev has stated time and again that there is NO background simulation at all. None. Zip. Zero. They last post I read by one of the devs said something like "We don't have ultrafast servers to handle a background simulation.", or at least something to that effect. It was not a very positive post. So, at the moment, I think that the goals are both a test by FDev to see what interests players, and how far said players will travel to participate, and they are also tied in to the Community story posts (Galnet - For example the news about that drug in whatever system currently has a community goal to make it legal/illegal based on player input. Onion Head or something IIRC)

Why?! Why would you do that? What could possibly be bought or sold at that station that could possibly make it worth it to travel there? Even the highest profit Rare isn't worth the time it takes to SC 1mill LS, the margins don't add up.

Also, FDev should allow for jumping between high mass + high gravity objects, and kill SC. Make everyone drop around the Nav point, add nav points to all stellar bodies, or something like that at least. That would fix the SC being and boring (I use a wireless headset and just run back to my comp when I hear interdiction starting lol) and also make Nav points make sense. Currently there is no reason for them to exist at all. Why are they there? Why do people/npcs warp in, then warp out?!

Better than that when u get out there the station u get ur global reward of 15% off outfitting doesn't sell modules.

Oh and the news says it's going bad for the Feds whereas each conflict zone is stuffed full of fed players and the NPCs that do spawn don't provide a half decent match.

I like the idea you have for community goals FD but implement them better please or no one will want to take part!!

That isn't true. There is a background sim that handles faction expansion state etc etc. it is true I believe for now that the community goals are seeded by FD themselves. In other words no automatic goal to build a station will spawn. However this should not be assumed to mean there is no background simulation as that is not true. There have been some bugs in it which have been dealt with, there may be more. Just read posts from Michael Brooks on the subject of background sim and bug fixing

rare commodity. i get about 17k per ton for it, and i get between 20 - 27 tons per visit.

There are other people working with the background sim. Keep an eye out.

The stupid just never stops with this game...

All they are doing is exposing how bad/nonexistant it is.

There are TWO systems where you can gain a mission and claim the reward. The other is the faction's home system, and that staion is only 49,000 LS away.

Could be the proximity mines, targeting highest threat locks me on them straight away

At the moment I would assume the Time Sink is the only way FD have of making sure a new community goal isnt over with in 10seconds.. Give them time to start chewing numbers

It is 500K LS from the drop in point, but once you are there there are high and low intensity zones nearby, you can cash in your bonds at the local station also.

Cheers
