So I just bought a Python

Even with fully upgraded thrusters, I find the turn speed on the python makes it a touch frustrating when I end up exploring with it. However, I've found it's the perfect ship for mining! A pair of mining lasers on the medium hardpoints lets you keep your large hardpoints for the good stuff, and with around 200t cargo space, well that's a lot of platinum and painite to bring back!

I looked at that too, could have the energy to run two large mining lasers, have a 10 bin refinery, and 3 collector limpets going...236 cargo and pack a little punch...a pretty sweet miner for 100M :)

Might try it too...I love the versatility of the python, I'm hoping it's a better Asp, which I would fly if it weren't for the sounds it makes.

Out of interest, how many Python saves did you have before? As I am someone who saw a Python on a nav beacon in 1.0 and said to myself "get Python, be happy", it's always interesting to see the other end of the spectrum. The guys who repeatedly make they progress up to the top because they think it's fun (what it is!). Personally, I wouldn't play the game anymore without owning a Python. It is my vessel, my love, my base for roleplay.

No.

I love my Python so much i can never go to another ship. Something about the Python i love. Wish they sold a model of it on the store page.

Python is a really versatile boat.
Give it time, just when you've got that pilot seat into the perfect position, all your components are A grade, and you're having a lot of fun - the realisation that you could trade it all in for an Anaconda sneaks into your subconscious.

Traded my Python for an Anaconda last week. One more week and I will be buying it back for my second ship...YaY!!!

I got a Python today - sold the Clipper, Vulture and Diamondback Explorer (which was better than expected).

The downside of moving from an A grade Clipper to a bog standard Python is that you take a step backwards before you can go forwards.
The shields are poor and it drives like an old bus.
So if you do not have enough insurance take care.
I am sure it will be a great all round ship once I have upgraded it and I wanted an all in one ship rather than 3 ships, which end up being in different locations.
just a thought - you should be able to save load out's so that you can change quickly for different missions?

How is the jump range treating you? I was considering trading in my A-spec Clipper; which I'm very happy with my PvP spec, and my trading spec.

I'm having a hard time giving up my clipper though..... 224T trade spec and I'm very happy with the combat spec and speed of the clipper. I hesitate to trade into the Python for ~ +50T cargo, less speed/maneuverability, 50% less jump range (this is the big hold up to me at this point, trading runs will be faster in my clipper somewhat negating the extra cargo), only other plus is it can dock at outposts. Also, I prefer agility in combat to tanking.... and the Python seems to be the tanking type.

Jump range about 15 LY's but I think it will go to 17 LY's if stripped out and choosing modules for range only.

My Clipper was more fun than the Python but I guess if I keep upgrading and it will eventually be fun at a price 10 times that of the Clipper! I am trying to advance my Imperial rank with little success, as I think the Imperial Cutter will be the ship for me to go for when it arrives.
