So i just lose everything?

Decide to give openplay a try and check out that Quivira event, of course as soon as i enter i get gunned for by a human player with a decked out ship which was fine since the loan system let me get my ship back.

Wait awhile in supercruise see the guy that killed me leave the conflict zone enter it again immediately another human player with a decked out ship attacks me i already know he has a stronger ship then I so i decide to run immediately get my shields and hull reduced to 0 in a matter of 10 seconds... and well... now it seems i don't get my ship back and lose 160 hours of progress. Can't say i wish to come back from that and if theirs an alternative other then to stop playing altogether i'am all ears because I'am frustrated as hell right now too see that I've lost that many hours of progress.

Crappy deal man...but I have to say that yes, you do just lose everything :) However that is not the end! I would recommend staying away from Open, maybe try the group Mobius. I play in Solo and Private group Mobius, as I do not want to deal with what you have just experienced :(

Would be willing to help you get back on the saddle and get you back in "ship" shape ;)

Hit me up private message and we can chat!

Cheers!

Well, a conflict zone in a community event area ist not the best place for trying out open for the first time, especially if flying uninsured.

But honestly... what did you expect in a conflict zone?

You took your ship into an open warzone without enough money to cover the likelyhood of being killed. It is tough but unfortunately it was also a bad decision. Players are allowed to attack you and it is a war. That is what happens. It is not griefing or any other form of ill play. It is simply a war and you were in the wrong place at the wrong time and picked the wrong side. Wars pay out big money but they are also vicious.

Would it really be so bad for the ship to give a warning when funds do not cover insurance for the current loadout?

Currently a warning is given for other things like landing gear not deployed.

Your ship should be prevented from launching if you don't have insurance.
That would be the only way, otherwise people will ignore any sort of warning anyway and still exclaim that that don't know what happened and why when it happens.
Even if they have to click only thrice to launch people will, then complain when they lose it all
We have a warning when you down grade equipment in outfitting and people still click through it and start threads about why is their jump range now 3 light years.
People ask for an additional warning so they don't sell a stored ship even though there is already one "Are you sure" they just click through then say, "but I wasn't given a second are you sure, this is so stupid how was I supposed to know"

I mean the OP was, based on the screen shot, already using a loan for insurance from his first death, yet still decided staying in a war zone was a good idea, with 320 credits and just over 50k left in the line of credit.

All that information would have been on the first rebuy screen.

Shouldn't need a warning for common sense. It's been discussed to death on here.

Action -> Consequence. In this case Risk > Reward.

well, that wasn't a very smart thing to do was it??

No matter what ED do water down the current insurance scheme, there's always going to be stupid people who are going to find a way to lose everything and whine about it.

For beginning players I think it would be a good idea to have the option of turning on/off such an alert. The reason I'd want to be able to turn it off is for when I'm outfitting a ship- it would be pretty annoying to have an alert pop up and have to be exited every time I get a module the insurance won't cover. Plus there are folks who see a challenge in being held personally accountable for their errors. So an option would be a great compromise, I feel.

And yes, Vow, you lose it all. I hate to hear someone lose that much time, but I have to say at 160 hours of play time it seems you would know better than to fly what you can't buy. I'm not belittling you. At that point I believe you should have been more careful and should have known to check your buyback vs. credits-on-hand. You put it all on black, and lost. I'd be extremely discouraged from playing again, which is why I am extremely careful with my credits. I could buy a 20,000,000cr ship right now if I sold all I had, but risk all that progress purposefully? Progress that started from back in December? No way. I'll cruise around in my Asp for a while longer until I get more funds.

Remember, you can ensure that this sort of thing never happens again and not ruin your game- check your buyback, especially if you plan on going to war.

I wish you the best of luck should you give Elite another shot :)

No alternatives, you just happened to learn this part of the game after 160 hours, take a break, and come back stronger with better knowledge of the game.

Arggghhhhh poor advice
.
The best advice is NOT stay away from open or go to Mobius
.
The best advice is stay away from known trouble spots until you feel you have the knowledge of the game to get yourself out of trouble.
.
What did the OP do wrong here - fight in OPEN? go to a known conflict zone - no neither of these.
.
What the OP did wrong is having been destroyed and now not having insurance he decided to stay around in a risky area on a revenge mission and got his backside handed on a plate AGAIN. If you have no money then don't hang around in a dodgy area get out of dodge and get more money..
.
Oh and OP starting again aint a bad thing I have done it once and will do again for 1.3

I called Darwin, he wants to give you an award and suggested you don't fly without insurance.

Noob mistake.

No insurance. Not eve close to. Goes to Warzone. With community goal.
Damn surprised that human players wait there to kill him.

I suggest playing solo or just giving up. That was really not that hard to figure out. I find it funny that the OP somehow thought that a safe escape is guaranteed.

Think of insurance as your save game, that costs money. I've lost count of the times I've lost progress in games (or work), over the last 25 years or so, because I forgot to save regularly. I've become quite obsessive about it, actually. F5, move, F5, kill something, F5, move, F5.

The grand thing about ED is you don't need to keep hitting F5 every five seconds. You just need to keep enough funds in your bank to cover the rebuy cost.

It's not exactly the same as a save game. But the person responsible for using it properly hasn't changed.
