So I lost my 10 million Asp due to a bug

Yeah it was a very painful loss.
Had a bug where my heat levels exploded when next to a black hole when alt tabbed.
To be honest, I really am thinking about quitting the game entirely, never going to really catch up to that, knowing that I was once there at one point. Lord only knows I suffered though enough resets as it is.
That does suck. You know there's a BUT coming right? Here it is.....But flying anything without insurance is kinda asking for it.
What was the bug?
That might be a good idea, although getting an Asp should be fast enough if you just do rarity runs for a couple of days. Why do you think it was a bug anyway? Blackhole breaking your ship seems like a feature to me.
If the cause of ship loss was indeed a bug, simply ticket it & stop playing for a while. FDev have replaced CMDRs' ship/credit loss caused by bugs previously

Apparently some sort of mind control device that caused OP to fly without insurance...
I appropriate the offer, but wouldn't ask you to inconvenience your self by having to drop that much cargo.
To all those who say that black holes generate heat when next to them, I thank Braben I alt tabbed to upload my shots of said black hole.

The entire time I was around it in game, heat remained the same, and no gravitational pull was present.
The only thing that could generate heat would be attempting to jump from real space at the black hole, and even then it would only go up to 140%, not the 300% I was greated with after a grand total of half a minute it took to upload the album.

It was under half a minute, in a almost stationary position, and after careful observation that the position was safe to hold.
I knew exactly what was at risk, and took great care to avoid such a scenario.

Sorry about your loss, but I sincerely doubt that exploding heat levels next to a black hole are a bug.
On a side note: You made it into an Asp, you don't keep enough cash for insurance in your wallet and then you alt tab next to a black hole? No offense intended - I agree that sounds buggy, but I doubt it's beyond FDs sphere of influence to fix it because it certainly isn't their game that's buggy in that case.
Could you have perhaps accidentally engaged silent running, if you had stuff running and were in silent running mode while alt-tabbed, you might have self inflicted the heat and then umm.. boom? just a guess

On a serious note, Black Holes function like planets in this game. Staying near one really is quite harmless. I did HAVE insurance, but placed it into a better scanner to make what was supposed to be a relaxing weekend trip easier to do.
I know that I wont get that refund due to pass experiences, where they only reason why you would get a cr refund is if you where able to pay for the insurance when you lost the ship. This was of course back in beta 1, so the policy may have change, but most likely not.
I at first thought this to, but you cannot engage silent running in super cruise.
Additionally, when I was kicked out of SC, I still had shields online. This is what made me conclude it was a bug and not player error.

Something similar happened to me when I first started trading rares, the heat levels shot up after jumping into a new system. I couldnt see the star but I blew up within seconds of arriving.
It was the second time I blew up with rares filled to the brim. When you're a pauper it's a kick in the gonads.
