Horizons So i scanned a data point....

.....and now I'm wanted. It was guarded but the drones were all wanted. I killed them all for bounties scanned the datapoint and now I'm wanted! Seems legit!!! :D

But only locally, fortunately. Fly to another port, even on the same planet and you likely won't be wanted there.
Honestly I hate that. Some of us like to call certain systems home, and when the game bugs out it's not fun to get kicked out of your home for a week.

Do not shoot the drones. Sit outside the red square, and scan it. The drones ignore you. Then just leave and not wanted. Same as cargo pods/escape pods. Run in grab them, and get out before you are listed as trespassing and all good.

Wow...seems as much exciting as pickpocketting that guard, who did notice you during day light, in Skyrim... :-/

Make sure to check your transaction tab. I made some good change with the Feds for selling the data packets :)

You have to wait until the scan is complete before you start shooting them otherwise you become wanted....just like in a RES site.

I did. All the drones were wanted. It was scanning the data point that made me wanted!

The data points are marked as public or private. You can see this in the turret view when you have one targeted. Scanning a private data point gets you a trespassing bounty. The same thing happened to me recently: I ran across a data point guarded by wanted skimmers. Killing the skimmers was okay but scanning the data point resulted in a ~ 1,500 cr bounty.

In inhabited Systems, for that reasons I never Scan any Data points ;)

Learned my lession already, suddenly being Wanted.

All kinda weird anyway IMHO :
- Cargo in space : everything illegal, including Escape Pods, or Slaves floating around. Saving lives in space is illegal. Uhmkay...
- Cargo on Planets : all legal, scoop as much as you can.
- Guarded Cargo on Planets : ...the same, play WALL-E if you like, clean up the place
- Heavily guarded Installations with Turrets and Mining Rigs : legal! blow up whatever you like and loot the place like a thief. All legal.

At least to me, very very inconsistent, after getting conditioned to the fact that everything not your's is registered and illegal (in space).

But anyway, for looting an Anarchy System or your next best uninhabited System is the preferred choice any day...
Since the content doesn't seem to change one bit, you'll have upto 4 POIs within SRV/Scanner Range most of the time driving around, whether you're in the center of the bubble or >1000LY out. Doesn't matter based on what I have observed.

PS.
Wanted Skimmers in inhabited Systems is reportedly "unintended behaviour". So expect having to speed-scoop in the future or risk getting a Bounty, as the Skimmers in inhabited Systems apparently will be all Clean in the future.

did you kill all the drones without scanning them first. if the system has not detected all the drones before you shoot them they are presumed innocent and you will be wanted.

Yeah it was private but i thought that seeing as all the drones were wanted then it would be ok. I guess not!! :D

Like in space shooting at something that is not wanted makes you wanted, specially if you have not scanned them first to check.

Also possible to can most data points outside guarded zone. But watch out for "Public" and "Private" data points, public ok to scan private will set off guards and/or fine you for it.
