So I took a 7 million payout passenger mission without looking at the details...

Now I'm 1500 lightyears from inhabited space and out of beer. My secretive passenger has been incredibly angry at me for the entire trip because I got scanned by security on our last starbase stop before heading out. My 17ly max jumprange FAS has done around 150 jumps already, with at least another 150 jumps to go before we finally reach our destination...and then we still need to head back, another 300 or so jumps. Also, after encountering several neutron stars and some minor overheating incidents all of my modules have started falling below 80% integrity...Did I mention I forgot to bring my auto-field maintenance unit?

Whats worse, all the easily scanned stars and planets that you don't have to move a lot for to scan them...have already been discovered and scanned by someone named Hans Slowbius, who despite his name has been fast enough to beat me to every single system in my very randomly chosen flightpath. What are the odds. :)

What's even worse, now that I had ample time to contemplate the meaning of life and to actually investigate my destination on the star charts, it looks like the system I need to go is actually very far removed from the galactic plane, with no obvious close by stars. I'm now seriously doubting whether I can actually jump to the system with my 17ly max range....[yesnod]

Will anyone notice if my passenger suffers an unfortunate accident involving an airlock and hard vacuum?

Sounds brutal, I wouldn't have the patience in a FAS with 17, heck I don't even take my Beluga with 30 out further than 2000 ish. Im saving long range stuff for the Dolphin which I should be able to get to 40 plus.

You'll still have to bring the horrible passengers to a station I believe. Let us know how you get on

Everyone will be missed by someone. You took on the mission & it's completeable, so complete it. Which will you remember more, that mission you just abandoned, or that time you stupidly agreed to do 600 jumps in a 17ly FAS but saw it through?

For context, I'm currently 25,000ly away from the bubble in a 19ly Corvette ;)

One rule of Elite Dangerous:

Never take a passenger mission without checking the details first...

I`ve done it... I`ll never recover.

Is it too early to point and laugh?
FAS sightseeing. Ugh.
I do have pity, but still have to point and laugh.
Look on the bright side, it's not a Sag A* trip.

Yep, been there! Took a passenger mission for 24M to Hen 2-23 (Famous Explorer wants to go to Glorious Nebula) and got about 8000Ly in my 35Ly AspX out before I realised I needed either a lot of jumponium (which I wasn't set up for) or a ship with 60+Ly range. Was super angry at all the time wasted and ended up self-destructing to come back to the bubble - but a very memorable trip all the same :p

Think I've done this in real life dude. Just gotta roll with the punches, will all be over by the time your 57. Enjoy the ride, life is about the journey my friend, not the destination lol. Either that or just fire him out an airlock and call it quits. Up to you, life is all about choices :).

Now you know what marriage is like :D

Cheers Cmdr's

Been there too...once. Not sure whatever became of the celebrity. A real mystery.
On a high note though I bet you won't make that mistake again. Know I don't.

The worst passenger mission I got was a fairly short jump, but when I got there, the site was 320,000 ls out. So, I'm halfway there and up pops "I want some geegaws and doodads". So I said, "OK, next stop". When we finally got out there, I flew around for a couple minutes, then headed to a nearby system where I could buy his crap. After I sold my SRV hanger so I could equip a cargo rack and buy his crap, up pops a message "I'm ready to go look at the place we were just at now." "Oh no you're not, hit the space bricks, bum."

Well good luck. If it was me i would abandon the mission head back home and buy a decent exploration vessel and get another mission. Since you are only a quarter done It will actually work out to be faster.

I bet the poor passenger wasn't impressed when you told them you were going to self-destruct.

Agreed. Or buy a passenger ship (well, Orca) and then get some short sightseeing missions. They are nice.

I don't recommend Orca (2.2) for exploration missions, though. Orca is not a jumper no matter how much you tune its FSD. (Viewpoint: I'm currently returning from a 900 jump passenger mission in Orca.)
