So I tried my wired 360 controller with the game

I know it's been a while but I figured since I was using it to play GRID2 and Need For Speed Most Wanted I would try it with JWE.

Yes it works. So if you want to play with a controller you have a cheap option since a wired 360 controller is about $25 from Gamestop. Of course I don't know why you would want to play this game with a controller if you have a mouse and keyboard cause I have to say it works better with the k+m combo than the controller. The controller was not terrible, it worked better than what I expected it to but I would still say it's serviceable. It works, just not the best option. Of course I will stick with the keyboard and mouse. The keyboard and mouse feels much faster with all the hotkeys and being able to move the pointer around. The controls felt a bit clunky when it came to menus. Of course I don't blame Frontier case this is just the nature of controllers and these types of games. They did a good job with it IMO, as much as you would expect. It was better than JPOG on the original Xbox.

The mouse and keyboard makes you feel like you are actually in the control room issuing orders to park staff and managing the park. Once I got used to the controller I started to get lost in the game and had to stop myself from actually playing it. It's not so terrible that it effects the fun of the game. The ACU heli also controlled a bit better with the controller but I have no issue flying the ACU heli with the keyboard. What I didn't like however is having to aim at the Dinosaurs with the controller in the ACU heli or the Jeep. The mouse is much better for this. While it wasn't terrible, the controller to me was just a bit odd. But I prefer a mouse for games that require shooting. With the way the Dinosaurs run around and move the mouse is just better. Though I did land some shots on the Dinosaurs. Once you get used to it you should be ok. But don't expect quick precision.

I advise sticking with the keyboard and mouse, cause I will. But if you really have to then the 360 controller is fine.

I think that might be personal preference. TBH, I've always found controllers easier for quick aiming, since you can just hold down the thumbstick rather then having to continually move the mouse back to keep moving around.
