So I tried to have some PvP fun

I now have an anaconda with all A grade modules, engineered to G5 on most of them, it melts any NPC in seconds. Got some cash in the bank for a few rebuys so I thought to myself I would go out and play.

I went to one of bounty hunting cg site.
At first I get intedicted by a wing, I could get away easy, G5 trusters work great.
Than I got intedicted by a single ship a clipper I think and I turned to fight as he was alone. As his shields are going down he combat logs.
A few minutes later the same ship interdicts again and I made the mistake of letting him facehug and kill me with the lot better weapons for short range than I had.

I can't say it was fun. It'll probably take some time before I do it again.

Welcome to the iWin arena. You can expect this to happen pretty regularly.

My general (and limited) experience random with PvP is;

If you're winning, they combat log. So you technically lose.

If you're losing, you run or die, so you also lose.

PvP = lose/lose. :p

So these days, when I fly in Open, I give CMDRs the benefit of the doubt, if any attack me, I don't indulge, I just wake out instead. Usually with a "o7" just before the countdown. :p

Someone should create a private group where you can kick everyone who pulls the plug. I already suggested this years ago, if people would've listened to me there would be a big group with thousands of like minded CMDRs.

You could even give it a fancy name!

Weii I hope it was what you were expecting. Doesn't even remotely sound like fun to me.

After wading through so many PvP vs. PvE threads of late with all the whining going on I've decided that I have absolutely no interest in any multi-player aspect/features of this or any PC game, and will from now on play strictly solo. All of this nonsense is just a bit much for me.

Have fun all! :)

Why is any of this surprising or "new" to anyone? There are countless threads here where it's been proven time and again that Open is the Chuck E Cheese version of Elite Dangerous.

I'm thinking something that flows off the tongue... Flowbius. No that's not it. It has to sound more serene... Snowbius. Hmmm.. it needs to reflect the happy mentality the commanders have.. Jovius. That's it. Jovius.

Is this like 'Jovius Witness', now they are annoying.

(Apologies to any JW on here, but you gotta admit it you are annoying!)

I assume you were using a PVE anaconda - lasers or multicannons, biweave resistance modded shields (or grade A non prismatic), modded basic armor instead of reactive thermal etc. I use the same and it is rather amazing how different a true PVP build is. I can still do some PVP in my PVE anaconda but I am building some PVP specialized ships now for the reason that they are so different. Heavy duty shields, mostly heavy boosters, feedback cascade and super penetrator rails, dispersal cannons or plasma, target lock breaker plasma rule the day in legit PVP. (I don't consider heat cannons legit and hopefully they will go away soon)

You are right about the build, but even if I had the right one it only would have made the difference of getting combat logged on twice instead of once.

Take a medium ship if you want to PvP, it's much more fun. Yep folks log/wake away, but it's more positive to count these as victories (after all, they are effectively bowing out). The wing ganking is something that can only really be countered by flying in a wing yourself, or getting lucky and pulling one when the rest are rearming.

Yep, combat logging is a huge problem. I choose to look at a combat logging as a win, but it is still annoying.

You can make it a tiny bit better by reporting it. It may be yelling into an empty room but it still makes me feel better.

Any enemy still in a position to offer resistance at a later point hasn't truly been defeated.

This is my biggest issue with combat in Elite...there is no way, for anyone other than an abject novice, to truly loose anything.
