Newcomer / Intro So I wanted to do some kill missions

I've been doing trading since I started to play about a week ago, and wanted to go doing some kill missions/bounties..

I bought me an eagle, fitted it with gimballed pewpewpewz and other nice gear...
But I seemed like the missions I got was waaaay over my skillz cos I lost the ship twice...

Is there somehow u can see what skill req it takes? The last one I did was going to warzone and shoot down 6 ships..
I couldnt even get thru the shield of that big a** ship there...

I don't think anything other than kill pirates is wise in an Eagle. I am sure some hit shot will tell you that he took out an elite Conda, but the Eagle is made of balsa wood. Sneeze too hard and a wing will fall off.

Yeah I fell for those missions early on when I bought a viper and got wiped out, the rewards are too low , I think it was only 10k or so to kill 6 so I thought it would be an easier combat mission, oh how wrong I was! Hopefully the upgrade to missions in PP1.3 will flesh out the requirements and give us more info to guage how hard the mission will actually be!

An Eagle is a perfectly good light fighter which can take down a lot of stuff bigger than itself. My advice is to get some more combat practice. Pick a mission to kill pirates and go to the Nav Beacon of the named system. Scan everything and kill any wanted ships. They won't all register as pirates, probably only half or 1 in 3, but you will eventually fill the number. Nav beacons are much less hectic than combat zones, you have time to pick your targets and sneak up on them. Keep "Report crimes" turned on so the authority ships will arrive and with their help you may be able to take down bigger stuff, but always run away if your shields go down, an Eagle's hull is fragile!

Don't take assassination/hunter type missions. The targets are single big ships, often Elite, and just too tough. Also, the missions are bugged anyway and you may never find the target. Wait until 1.3 which will revamp the missions system.

How do I activate Report crime? Is it on by default?

It usually is. Go to the right-hand panel and the Functions tab, you'll find it there. If you haven't ever done that it is probably on. Police ships will eventually turn up if you are attacked and if you are at a Nav Beacon they will usually then stick around.

As far as I know the authority ships will not turn up and assist you if you take on one of those BB assasination mission where the target is an Elite Anaconda. No matter if you have turned on the "Report crimes against me" funktion or not.... That's why you shouldn't take these missions if you only have an Eagle to fly in and in a Viper you should get some practice first with anacondas in a warzane to prepare you for what you'll be up against IMO...
Actually i would recommend doing it in a vulture, FDL, or ships with simelar firepower.... ;)
