I'm trying to buy an Orca (because i'm a rebel) and because i lack credits, i'm getting it at 15% off, I have enough credits to buy it, but it keeps telling me i'm lacking credits...

How much do you need for a ship that costs 41,258,904, and i have 41,273,010 credits.

why are you buying a ship when clearly u have no credits to upgrade or insure ? this will end in a rage post blaming everyone for your lost ship i wouldnt buy it untill i had at least 3 or 4 times the rebuy costs if i were you .

Sorry but, good player as nothing to do with it, poor choice of words

if we can, is it possible to ignore the fact that i won't have insurance? and help decide if this is a bug or something? Or do you require a set amount of credits before buying it.

he said he was good i replied poor choice of arguement
I said i was good when it comes to rebuying it when i reenter federation space, not once did i say "I don't need to have a rebuy because im good" . Not a good idea overall. Now can we please keep it to the main topic? .-.

Going to sleep now, 12:45 AM here. I'm going to guess that when i wake up and check, the topic will be about a rebuy cost... *sigh*

I would say that a careful Player would ensure they had enough to cover the REBUY, but a Player who liked to take risks would get it as soon as they could afford it, and sod the risk! An idiot would buy the ship as soon as they could afford it, and then complain when they got killed and could not get it replaced.

I am a careful Player with a simple rule when buying any ship, that I make sure to have 200% of the purchase price first. That way I have enough for the ship, some outfitting, a couple od cargo loads, and a couple of REBUYs. When I am in Starter Space offering help and advise I make a point to explain what REBUY is. Once the new Player gets what REBUY means, they do not fly without REBUY covered.

By the way, is it possible that your issue is because you don't have enough assets to buy the Orca. Remember that when you sell a ship you will take a 10% hit on the value at the time of selling (and this includes any upgrades). So, using simple numbers, if you bought a ship for 1Mcr and spent 1Mcr upgrading it, at the time of trading it in you would only get 1.8Mcr (and this could drop you on the wrong side of the balance sheet). If, however, you took that ship back to factory standard, you will get back the full price you paid for the upgrades (so, in this example, 1Mcr), and then you only take the 10% hit on the hull value (so you would get back 900Kcr), with the end result meaning you would get back 1.9Mcr, and that might mean you can now buy that new ship!

and of course the forum isnt full of players yapping about losing ships with no rebuy cash and after the update that a awful big risk in a orca with no upgrades

It is probably a little bug whereby its not evaluating your assets correctly. If you definitely have enough credits, ticket it.

Don't forget that the base jump range on an Orca is very low. make sure you can get out of the system and where you want to go on its pitiful range of 7.44Ly..

Enjoy your space cow ;)

im betting he trading his other ship and its got cargo in the hold
Yeah, most likely cause for this is still having cargo (or limpets) in your current ship's hold. Cargo can now be transferred between ships if the purchased ship has enough space, but limpets seem to be an exception.

Also, yes. I know im buying this without enough to rebuy.

I look forward to the follow up post; "how I stopped hating the rebuy screen, and learned to love the free sidewinder". Should be a real hoot. Good luck. Also remove any limpets you have stored in the cargo bay; they cannot be transferred as they have a 'controller' prerequisite and a stock ship does not provide one.

Could the 41,273,010 credits be your assets? and you are switching an old ship out for the new.

Maybe your current assets does not take into account the loss in value that happens when selling a ship.

And so u would be bellow the needed credits maybe ?
