So in 3300 peoplel haven't mastered general chat yet?

I am just wondering why there are no subspace channels to allow players to communicate
The game needs
/channel newbie
/channel powerplay
/channel black market
etc...
people troll or talk crap, right click their name to ignore

The game really really need an in game community especially with powerplay where there are conflicts and struggles that are ONLY available when docked at a station (ridiculous)

The more I play ED the more I love it and the more I long for EVE tools and mechanics to be added to it

I took some long years to EVE to implement and refine those tools. And they are still under development :D

It would be nice to be able to message people in different systems. I often don't notice a chat someone has sent and it would be nice if I could send them the equivalent of an email.

Thank god they haven't mastered. Prepared to be flamed? Nope, just explanation that such feature won't ever be in this game.

Also "ignore someone you don't want to hear" - sorry, it never really works. General chat defines worst part every MMO for some time now.

apparently yes.. in a big way, i too would love some eve features, as far as content and social interaction go( eve's rep is unfounded, a lot of good corps and ppl in that game) elite could learn alot from eve

General chat has nothing to do with Eve. You people are just silly. General chat is just general chat. It's been around in games since 1995, Frontier shouldn't have these kinds of problems.

Be nice to have voice comms like a cb radio. Several channels that would be open comms. Shortcut button to 'key' the mic. Breaker breaker 1 9 style ;)

also I don't have anything against more chat options in game - it would actually pull me back into the game. Stop with this EVe is evil go away nonsense....

Why is it impossible in your mind to have good tools from one game available in the other?
Is there a particular reason why you think there should not be ANY communication globally within the game...I am asking you as a player

let it go and in the future I would suggest not to use ANY game comparisons EVER (especially EVE one) - its like paranoia here.

As a player - I block all chat :) It's my playtime, and you* have no part in it.

*not you personally of course, I just find chat in-game to be superfluous.

heh exactly - you can always block ppl - that's what I usually do also. Still I think Elite is little bit different than your usual MMO with trade offers/scams/guild adverts.
