Powerplay So, is Aisling going independent?

If Rochester survives long enough and they do get married, what will this FIMP (Fed+Imp) marriage do for the power? Does it signal a change in Aislings overall alignment to the Empire?

If it does, could / will this be a good pretext to move along the Tier 1 Power leaders too?

What do you mean "If Rochester survives long enough..."?
Are you expecting a preying mantis type of honeymoon? ;)

Well, here are the options:

1: Aisling dies, Rochester takes over in her name and Aisling becomes some sort of saint.

2: Rochester dies after being related to INRA somehow, Aisling becomes bitter and twisted.

3: Aisling and /or Rochester are aliens and /or both / one dies in a gruesome Fifty Shades style wedding barge incident.

4: Aisling's hair goes Federal Red when they marry, Hudson being the best man.

5: ALD / Torval / Patty try to kill Rochester in some way.

6: Aisling devours Rochester to ensure the growing hybrid offspring are supplied with sufficient nutrients during gestation. If this is true Rochester will 'decline interviews' and 'wish to spend time with Aisling in private'.

7: Everything turns out OK, neither die / are aliens / INRA and live happily ever after.

What world are we living in where any of us have any reason to expect anything happening in the story will have any impact on powerplay whatsoever?

Anyway, I'm going to go with option 6 as my preferred option, though I think option 2 is more likely. My bittersalt aside, Aisling isn't going to die.

Aisling did not want to be the Emperor, she had loftier goals. She will unite the Federation and Empire in a League of Humanity with commensurate populist fanfair.

The League will be senatorial in structure, with regional governors administering regional territories.

Looks like a number 5 is coming then!

Make no mistake, she plans to absorb the Federation and the Empire, not be independent of them. Hudson is broadly understood to be evil and corrupt, Lavigny is not authentically part of the Duval bloodline. Aisling has the communication skills to undermine both leadership structures. The game was over as soon as the marriage was announced.

Remember, she refuses to takes the drugs. She will die in the blink of an eye. Aisling is a blip on the radar - nothing more.

The way I look at it, this is just another "event" forced on the players, completely independent of player involvement in any way. >YAWN!<

The Federation and the Empire are officially at peace. With this marriage it's possible she will gain more federation support thus becoming the only one in the empire feds like. She may use that support to take the throne to bring in a new era of peace and prosperity between the super powers. She will end slavery and ban the use of drugs.

Thinking about it, does that mean the Grom and Imperial Alliance was almost called GIMP?

Oh man. Then I could have had "GIMP UMO" headlines when I was still writing my recaps. Hilarious.

edit: oh dear, I've been censored. It's just an acronym.
