Just taking a look at the lengths of the development phases and I noticed that Premium beta was not that long compared to Alpha.

So is the Beta phase going to be as short or longer?

One of the things I've noticed is that the game is not available to pre-order from any of the major game suppliers in the UK.

Yes, they still plan to release it this year.

Will Beta be longer than Premium Beta? I think it will be. Some people speculate that they might release Gamma stage at the end of September (for Elite anniversary), so that would make it same length as PB (2 months), but i´m not so sure they will get ready for that.

My guess: Beta will be 3-4 months (with multiple releases), Gamma in October/November, and Retail release for around Christmas.

It's going to depend entirely on how long it takes to put in the missing content, and how many bugs they find. In other words, it's as long as a piece of string.
