Lets see what we have Polacanthus, Gigantspinosaurus, Maiasaura, Muttaburrasaurus, Mamenchisaurus, Pentaceratops, and Torosaurus. For iconic dinos, the only new ones are Diplodocus and Giganotosaurus. This very said so many spots are taken up with obscure creatures. Why don't you put these guys below here in this game.
So it seems we have more nonmainstream dinosaurus, why Frontier?!

I'm glad they're giving us some lesser known dinosaurs. Also, it's quite possible that we'll get some of the more iconic ones in future DLC.
maybe they will look into this after they see how good it sells and they can then see if its wanted by the mase.
and also they could be in the DLC depending how the game does

We don't need lesser known animals. The iconic ones should all be in the physical standard copy of the game not DLC. I could care less about Muttaburrasaurus or Huayangosaurus. Just give the me iconic dinos.
Maiasaura, Torosaurus and Mamenchisaurus are non-mainstream and non-iconic?!? o0
Maiasaura and the egg-mountains are very well known. Torosaurus is like the third best known Triceratopsoid (maybe after Trike and Styraco) and Mamechisaurus isn´t that non-mainstream either.
Also: Allosaurus will most likely be added in the Kingdom DLC, or won´t he?
But my point is this. For the standard physical copy we have Ankylosaurus, Apatosaurus, Brachiosaurus, Dilophosaurus, Diplodocus, Edmontosaurus, Gallimimus, Gigantosaurus, pachycephalosaurus, Parasaurolophus, Spinosaurus, Stegosaurus, Triceratops, T-Rex, and Velociraptor. Keep these but the rest are pointless.
Most of the general public and hard core gamer sure as heck don't know what Torosaurus, Maiasaura, and Mamenchisaurus are. So why can't Allosaurus be in the game?

If you are just really a little bit into dinosaurs you know them. Which ones do you miss beside Allosaurus?
And as I said: Allosaurus probably will be in game two weeks later.

A hard core gamer knows what an allosaur is but not Maisaur or Torosaur ? ... what ?
The game would be very boring indeed if all we got was main stream dinos. Loving the addition of the less well know ones, favourite thing about the game.
As most people are saying allosaur will more than likely be in the free FK DLC
Guys, come on. Dinosaurs are dinosaurs. They're all awesome. JPOG gave us 25 dinos. This one's giving us over 40. And they all look great. I think Frontier is giving us a good balance of both mainstream dinos and lesser known dinos.
More dinosaurs equals more content. I applaud Frontier for adding in lesser known dinosaurs. If you're just a casual JP fan and not that deep into paleontology, you may learn interesting new facts about these non-mainstream dinosaurs. If Fdev can introduce otherwise unknown dinosaurs and bring them more into mainstream culture, or encourage people to research them outside of the game, they should feel proud of that.
I honestly think you´re upset because of the wrong reason. If there´s a non well known animal in the game, that´s not bad at all. The only thing about the dinosaurs, that bothering me is the balance of the choosen Animals by Frontier. First I was worring, than disappointet, but today I am really upset about how many Possibilities were wasted. Don´t get me wrong people I am still thinking, that the game will be a huge pleasure to play, but the animal balance of this game is kinda bad. I mean ... Triceratops = Torosaurus = Pentaceratops = Chasmosaurus??? The only real difference between these is the size of their horns and Shields ... Einio or Pachyrhino would much, much better choices to show different animals of this kind, but frontier had to choose those ones ... I honestly do not understand why they made this decision. The List goes on ... Stegosaurus = Huayangosaurus = Chungkingosaurus, Gallimimus = Struthiomimus, Velociraptor = Deinonychus, Ankylosaurus = Nodosaurus = Polacanthus (the only exception to these is Sauropelta. It looks different indeed), Corythosaurus = Tsintaosaurus ... Let´s count all the wasted animals in the game ... 10 of 42. That meants they´re only a use for 32 Animals in the game (if there´s no new clon coming). And yeah 32 good dinosaurs of 42 aren´t that much of a huge disappointment, but even through it is very much of a frustration IMO. It´s like Mortal Kombat ... you got Characters that looks the same, but with different Colors ... :|

Agreed - the more well-known, iconic dinosaurs should be in the base game.
Too many of the same basic animal is not good either(example 4 species of three horned Chasmosaurine ceratopsians). 3 similar species from the same family/sub-family is okay. 4 similar species is one too many - IMO, at least for the basic game. Also what is with 5 species of Stegosaurids - 4 species which are very spiky.
Personally - I would have been fine with 3 species of Stegosaurids(Stegosaurus, Kentrosaurus, and 1 Asian Stegosaur) and 3 species of Chasmosaurine Ceratopsids (Triceratops, Torosaurus, Chasmosaurus/Pentaceratops). In turn replace those three herbivores with 3 carnivores - Gorgosaurus/Albertosaurus, Rugops, & Acrocanthosaurus/Carcharodontosaurus.
No matter what happens people will complain. This is crazy.
