Hardware & Technical So it's come to this . . . . . .

Hi all :)
Let me start by saying thank you. Thank you all so much for the good advice, views and opinions. This is a very intimidating project and the more I look into it the more overwhelming it all seems. That being said, the advice I've gotten here has helped so so much. Can't do this without you guys! :D

I built this one a year ago:

Fractal Design Refine R4 Titanium grey
Corsair AX860i PSU
4 x Fractal Design R2 140mm extra case fan
Asus Z87-PRO motherboard
i7 4770K CPU
Corsair Hydro H90 AIO liquid cooler for CPU
Kingston HyperX Beast 2400 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) RAM
Asus GTX 780 DC2OC 3 GB
Kingston HyperX 3K 240 GB SSD
WD Caviar Black 2 TB
Asus BW-16D1HT Blu-ray RW
Asus Xonar DX-XD Pci-e soundcard
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit (OEM)

If I was to build it now, I'd probably go for a Z97 motherboard, 4970K and GTX980.

With your budget I'd go for X99 motherboard, 5930K & 2*GTX980.

If you're going multimonitors go AMD. Even though Nvidia has better performance and better drivers their support for Surround is pitiful.

With Nvidia there are no profiles, no hotkeys so you'd have to manually enable/disable each screen and res every single time. It's a PITA.

Not strictly true, nvidia has 3 (count em) surround hotkeys that are useful, ctrl alt b to bezel peek, ctrl alt s to enable/disable surround and ctrl alt r to switch to a single screen. Granted its not as comprehensive as AMD, but still something.
