This game is a rip off!

15 years ago most people were directly connected to the Internet via dialup or an adsl modem - no NAT required. The majority didn't even have a firewall in the way either.

Most of them also didn't have twitch gameplay, heavy physics simulations or even basic player-player collision detection in most cases.

What are we supposed to do? Go report every instancing / wing bug we see? I would be in there 15 times a NIGHT reporting the same thing over and over.
Of course not. But everyone affected needs to do it at least once per major release (i.e. v1.x), so that they know it's still a problem.

This is a known issue, I don't think they need individual bug reports for every time there is an instancing problem or wing problem. I have reported a couple myself already, but im done.
It might be a known issue, but they may not think it's a big or common issue any more. Just because the problem happens often for you, does not mean it happens often for other people - it depends greatly on your internet router & other stuff. If you don't report it, then the problem may not be a priority for them to fix, because they think it affects too few people.

Given the lack of network fixes in v1.3 (I only recall reading about one or two) it seems they think it's no-longer a major problem for most people...

I concur with everybody here. I don't know what the solution is.. but I do know that when me and my wingmen mates are playing together, the complaints that come up more than any other, and it they come up ALL the time while chatting in-game, are:

1. Instancing bugs (i.e. not being able to see other CMDRs we know are in the system, one of us fighting an opponent the other can't see)
2. Wing bugs (i.e. my two buddies are already in a wing... I get an invite, but once invited, I can only see one guy, and they can't see me.. or vise versa)
3. Being able to switch back and forth between solo and open with the same commander slot.

I think it's only a matter of time before we move on to something else. I can't speak for my buddies, but I certainly won't be buying any expansions with the above 3 still in place.

I am sorry your sad and so disappointed; I knew there would always be problems like this. Fortunately I can say I'm in it for the long haul. My play style and preference limits my problems; the only threat to my enjoyment I see, may come from PP, we'll see.

Cost? I would dare to say the investment* not cost, good multiplayer would cause the game to sell copies, while half hearted attempts are going to frustrate players, cost! This is stepping over dollars to pick up dimes as they say.

client server would be costly if more then 32 ships could make the p2p server cry mercy think of the bandwidth cost or sevrel hundred thousand. they would have to go sub only as in its current form pay 2 win would not work. with the games lack on content to keep people coming back that would quickly fail.

lol, you'd be ddosing your own machine, im fine with 32, but the stated capabilities should perform to their stated capacities, not just make instances willy nilly.
