So my Wife to be bought Elite Dangerous...

UPnP should be automatic for any modern router. You should not need port forwarding. I've never needed it.
Agreed.
If however, it made a difference (the improvement might have just been random luck I guess), it might indicate that the router isn't 100% healthy/happy.
Is your router from a decent brand @Einar Donarsson, or an ISP-supplied model?
Sometimes problems of this general flavour go away for a while when you reboot the router. If that makes a difference then acquiring a better router might be worth considering.

There's a lot more fun things a nearly married couple can do than play computer games...
...especially games that have never worked properly.

She always sat beside and watched cause her own PC couldnt handle Oddity one bit even though her old PC wasnt far off recommended specs.

So now she finally got her new one and we were so excited to play together. She wished to just hop aboard my ship and learn things slowly without much of a risk.
I picked her up at the starter system after she completed the introduction mission (wich is pretty good actually, wish we had more things like that). We then went into my Corvette with fighters so she can practice flying. I hopped into supercruise and went into open space.

Then it started..... She cant deploy anything cause apparently we are still in supercruise. CONNECTION ERROR.
Tried it again after i picked her up from my Carrier. CONNECTION ERROR.
And AGAIN....... TRANSACTION ERROR.

Shes literally Sitting a few meters away from me. This experience only an hour into the Game greatly disheartened her. "What is the point of this if i cant even play it with you?"
How can physical Multicrew be so broken? It greatly brutalizes the Fun.
Sadly, this is the state of many Elite parts right now.

The Router is not that old and from a decent brand widely used in Germany. It also works with EVERYTHING else.

Do not worry. We do a lot of fun things besides Elite :D

Hopefully you did proper port forwarding, as in forwarding different ports to each computer and setting the port forwarding accordingly in ED network options.

I regularly dual log 2 of my accounts from the same laptop, no issues worth remembering - at least not lately.
I can even triple log my all 3 account, but my laptop cannot handle 3 Elites, each of them running Ultra setting, at more than 20 fps 😂
(reportedly Ultra requires 8gb vram video card and mine has only 16gb vram)

For what it is worth, I use a flagship Fritz!Box, and uPnP has never worked in my setup and I had to set up dedicated port forwarding. uPnP isn't the be-all-end-all solution and even can be harmful if you allow every application to willy-nilly open ports in your router.

I'm currently using an Asus RT-AX86U, really really happy with it (getting gigabit speeds over wireless with no discernible latency issues - it's quite nice)

all of my wingmates left the game because of poor networking.
Even running on an ipv6 only network (Yes, our isp, does provide us with an actual global addr), didn't solve any of the problems.

Edit: In the end it all comes down, how our isps, uses nat in there own networks. Nothing we could do about it. On top of that, the error handling in elites networking stack, seems just disfunctional and crashes the client most of the time. Realy hard to tell without a proper dev version of the game to debug.

Ouch. I once left an ISP because, although they genuinely tried, they were unable to make their traffic management system recognise the game I played, so it was unplayable at peak times. I know that not everyone has the luxury of (a) an ISP that will engage to examine a problem or (b) a choice of ISPs.
