General / Off-Topic So now I am an immigrant :(

So due to brexit I am now a immigrant in country that I have lived in for more than 3/4 of my life. (france , I moved to france with my parents when I was 5 , so I was not able to vote for the EU ''democratic'')

Talks of lose of support for my handicaps , talk of loosing my job...

I am going to try to get double nationality , but I dont think they are going to grant it me...

What is sure is now I will have to get a visa to visit my family in england , and chances are france will kick me out anyway (cant blame them)
I dont want to be french , but I do not want to be english by any stretch anymore we should all be ''human'' not tribes in it only for ones pure gain... anyway no politics

This sucks , I have no clue what to do with my life anymore.
Am I going to be able to continue to live in france but still use UK only TV , games and movies?
Am I going to loose my fiancee?
Am I going to have to end up fighting in a stupid world war 3?

sorry , I just cant belive it

I think you will have to get married in France to solve most of your problems.
You and that couple million of people in same boat as you will get their/your status agreed from UK and EU, internally toward itself western Europe is quite civilized bunch no question there.

Why would France be so petty?

Why would you need a visa to visit family in England, by mum didn't need a visa to visit family in Australia, this is all scaremongering and it will continue for two years I fear.

oh and most humans ARE tribal, always have been and those who say they are not on a national level are tribal in others i.e. Sports, music etc etc. It is a FACT of humanity, so to be a human you ARE tribal.

This has all been caused by ONE issue. Open borders, but it's NON NEGOTIABLE on orders from the EU. That's dictatorship level of politics right there. Reasonable people COMPROMISE but the EU never could on this subject.

France and other EU countries would be insane to harass any UK citizens living there.

Frankly, I think they'd be insane to do very much.

It all comes down to what Farrage will demand next. he's the one with power now. I suspect he will try to appear clever and reasonable, but sooner or later, he will have to give some ground to his erstwhile BNP wing.

Farrage isn't very smart or bright. He's a showman on a roll. It all comes down to how well Boris behaves now. If he can take the lead. But Farrage will want his share and his share will be big.

If I were you, I'd sit tight.

The human race should go a step further and rethink the democratic system as it is now. We should go for a better life for all people in the world and we should take our brains from the media away. Every single human can do a part in this turbulent time.

Jacques fresco is a human who believe in more as our political system today since the 70 s, take a look and everyone should spread the word.

And this, believe it or not, is how the Remain lot wanted you to feel.

And that's not coming from a Brexit voter, because I spoiled my vote.

The whole campaign has been about "vote this way and your life will be destroyed". Do you actually think they had an ounce of integrity when they said "Brexit could cause WWIII"? Lunatics everywhere.

I lke you how you put TV, Games and movies above your fiancee ;)
Thats not what I ment.

I love her to bits , more than anything in the world.

I have been an EU supporter for all my life.
To be the EU is like the federation from star trek and I belived it would bring us to an age of unity.
I am fine with it being gone , I just hope a new treaty , a new alliance is forged this time with a bigger focus on human rights and less so on governing others nations

A shame that the Brits are leaving the EU. It would have been ok if the decision would have been based on reasonalbe, logical or economical reasons.

But it was mostly based on firing up the fear of people of the immigrants waves that will role over the country and hateful speeches of right wing "leaders".

Privata, I would not worry too much. While you should definitely start the double nationality administrative process asap, you chances to stay seem pretty solid to me, with your situation. I can't see my country (and the EU) being too petty about that. The UK will probably manage to get a special status.

Unfortunately that's the stance that BOTH sides took. Sorry to burst bubbles.

We have, hours after getting a decision, people posting on game forums that they think because of what the In party said, they're going to become outcasts that lose everything they've had. What the hell?

Everyone has been utterly puerile and not one side could bring anything to the table other than scare tactics backed by twisted statistics, and I can assure you the In party had worse fearmongering up their sleeve than immigration issues.

It was based on racism , fake money arguments that have been proven to be false , and tribal nature.

I cant belive whats going on , its like reading pre WW2 history all over again , all this based no slight fears that up to now could have been avoided if the EU worked together instead backstabbing.

I am not saying there will be a european war , I am not an expert but I am just very scared that it could happen as we are allready witnessing powers pulling in oposite directions.

I just hope the UN can keep everything cool

Looks like I will have to apply for Dutch citizenship if I want to stay in the country where my children live.

It means renouncing my British citizenship as that is a condition of acquiring Dutch nationality.

I honestly don't see it becoming that bad, give it time, no one want to create huge waves in the European continent.
The leave campaign will have a very rough and bumpy road in front of them, and the Netherlands and the UK always had good connections so I would not worry that much.

I did not even get the right to vote on my own fate... its terrible.

So I will be doing the same , I could just marry my fiancee , but she is very handicaped and it all has to go threw a judge and they only just let us get engaged (a few months ago) I dont want to push it.

My right to live in Holland is based on me being an EU citizen and the freedom of work etc. ie: I am one of those "immigrants" - just not into Britain.

If I have no work I have to leave after 3 months.
If I retire I have to show that I have enough funds to support myself <looks at the tumbling exchange rate>, and also that right to live anywhere in the EU is dependant upon being an EU citizen.
