So promotions... -.-

So my friend is rank 0 and trying to get to rank 1 with Empire.
She's been at 100% rank 0 for ages, done 3 missions for Empire minor factions since we started today, and still /no/ promotion missions all yesterday or today.
Is there something else that must be done? Do only certain bases offer promotion? Is it broken? :S

Considering gunning for a courier is her current goal, it's a super obstacle for her, so any assistance would be great.

You need to make sure you are at least "cordial" with the relevant faction

Perhaps your friend should try other systems closer to the Empire's capital?

Gain Allied status with as many Empire aligned factions as possible and get Allied to the Empire over all and the missions will appear..... They don't always appear right away

I did a savegame wipe a few days ago, and have managed to get back up to Master — The Navy missions are now more rare and the names are more subtle. (ie. no longer called Naval Ascension)
Because the missions themselves are rare, it's best to go to a system with 3+ imperial factions.

*Edit* In the example below, this was the only Navy mission despite there being several imperial factions.

What they said...

-Align with that systems dominant faction. Make sure they are Empire.
-Keep doing their missions.
-Make em love you.
-Then work the second faction the same way. See rule one.
-Go to a neighboring system and do the same. Same faction if you can.
-Don't focus on the 'G' word.

I just made Viscount last week and just kept playing. Goofing around mostly... Doing odd jobs to pass the time or whatever struck me. I looked down last night and I was already at 10%. BUT STILL NO ARSENIC!!
