So Racing??

Why is racing not a thing?
The flight model and differences between FA on and FA off are some of my favourite parts of Elite.
We have lightniing fast ships that take time to both outfit and engineer.
We have gorgeous locals(on console XD)
We have the opportunity to race at anything from zero G to to who knows what...4G perhaps
We have thosands of players that are itching to race...correct me if im wrong
So again, how does racing not exist in Elite?
It boggles the mind.

Umm, it does, look up Buckyball Racing club.

The Pomeche Ridge Challenge.

The Colonia Trophy Dash.

There are also SRV racing meets and etc.

No, like a proper racing system with a start line, checkpoints and a finish.
Not someone firing a laser for the finish line.
Matchmaking, time trials and dedicated tracks.
Kudos to them though, another instance of players doing there best to create something that should already exist in game.

I feel the same, the flightmodel is one of the major Strengths in the game for me. Set up some Racing tracks around the Galaxy and Leaderboard would add a lot to the game
