This weird article talks about getting consent from your robot.
We seem to be plunging into Ridley Scott's dystopia at unexpected speed.
While the idea of consent from a self aware entity is obviously ethically required, seeking a preprogrammed response from a chatbot is really NOT the same thing. It's akin to asking the fridge for a snack, or thanking the electric fan for the breeze. Consent is IMHO becoming devalued the way halal meat mass production has devalued the concept of respect for life.
When chicken farms employ imams who punch a card to pray, to make a product for a mass market sector, we replace a reverence for living things with the crassest commercialization, manifested as
an extra few cents per meal for a ritual that a chatbot is better suited for. It's not a religious observance anymore, it's a tax to pay for a human doing something robotic.
Maybe it would be better to talk to real people, have real relationships instead of transactional mechanical sex, and just not kill the animals if you want to demonstrate reverence for life. Or we could just throw everything away, and interact with both kinds of synth meat. But please, either way, can we abandon the trite rituals?
