So, ship naming then: what will you be calling yours?

I started naming my ships shortly after making an account on Inara. Now that they'll be publicly displayed, I might change a few...

Sidewinder => Fravashi
Hauler => Eighteen
Eagle Mk. II => Shahin
Cobra Mk. III => The Delian League
Viper Mk. IV => Aeshma
Keelback => Tsovinar

Just named most of my main fleet (waiting for the last couple to transfer across) and added suitable name plates - glad I got a mix as some fit much better on different hulls than others. Honestly, the ID plates are better than the names; the ID positions are very well placed and the text very legible on pretty much every ship I've tried.

Sidewinder - "Now You See Me" (H-NYSM) - Special Events
Cobra Mk III - "Memory Of Days Gone By" (H-MDGB) - Special Events
Asp Explorer - "From Star To Star" (H-FSTS) - Bubble Runabout
Asp Explorer - "Among Distant Stars" (H-ADS) - Exploration
Type-7 Transporter - "What's Mine Is Mine" (H-WMIM) - Mining
Python - "Consider It Done" (H-CID) - Mission / CG Runner
Type-9 Heavy - "We Brake For Nobody" (H-WBFN) - Cargo / CG Hauler
Beluga Liner - "Enjoying The View" (H-ETV) - Passengers
Fer-De-Lance - "The Bringer Of Death" (H-TBOD) - PvE Combat
Anaconda - "Caution Is Advised" (H-CIA) - General purpose

I've only decided on a name for my favorite ship, a heavily-engineered Asp Ex: "Into the Black"

I've bought an Explorer nameplate, so I'll probably name my other ships too, eventually.

My Commander name (Adept Geraden) is a character created by the author Stephen Donaldson. So all my ship names will be based on his books.

Anaconda (trader/explorer) : the Gap into Madness
Python (mission runner) : Mordant's need.
Clipper : White Gold Wielder
Fer de Lance : This day all gods die
Asp explorer : Forbidden Knowledge.
Orca or Dolphin : Lady Terisa of Morgan. (next item on the purchase list)
Imperial Courier : Daughter of Regals

My cutter is called the "Witch of November" after the Gordon Lightfoot song, the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

The wind in the wires made a tattle-tale sound
And a wave broke over the railing
And every man knew, as the captain did too,
T'was the witch of November come stealin'
