So......Skynet yeah?

Everyone panics over "autonomous drones" whilst at the same time using Limpets to autonomously collect cargo, materials and mining fragments....
*Watches unarmed collector slam into the side of an asteroid...*

Yeah, so threatening to our existence. Now excuse me, I need to engineer this C5 controller for lightweight so it doesn’t weigh 10.34 tons per limpet.

Ok, I'm really getting annoyed about Imperial command's reactions to things.

Let the Feds own stupidity be their undoing. Let them fall. Look at your own goddamn space and protect that, ok. We don't need to fight 'goids in the far reaches of space. We don't need to work with the idiot Feds or the strangely more militaristic each day Alliance. We need to look after ourselves becuase the Empire is the haven others should look up to. Not the Feds, not the Allliance, not even Aegis. We, the Empire, are the jewel in the galactic crown, and we must survive. But we won't if we aren't looking inwards to keep ourselves safe, and not those other idiots. They must die, we must survive. For the Empire!

Signed, a concerned Imperial Citizen.

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
More evidence that the Federation cannot be trusted. The Empire has long known the dangers of over-reliance on automation and AI abominations. In our efforts to defend mankind from the Thargoid threat we must not sacrifice our own humanity in the process.

Remember S.H.O.D.A.N.!

Can someone point me to the Guardians / AI lore?

The guardians kinda lived in symbiosis with their AIs via implants, which also enabled them to communicate in a telepathy kind of way. As far as I know they never had any kind of machine rebellion or S.H.O.D.A.N. / Skynet incident, but if I remember right there have been purists and a war about this. Rage against the machine, so to say...

You can find summeries and all the entries from the obelisks here:

Come with me if you want to live!

It will be interesting to see how this plays out, assuming its not just Galnet talk.

Will the Empire and Alliance just sit back and allow the Federation to deploy these weapons? Knowing that one day, those weapons could be used against them?

Will the Empire and Alliance eventually have no choice but to develop their own weapon drones to protect their territory from threats - both alien and human? By extension, where does that leave the Independents?

Will us players actually be able to see these weapon drones attacking the Thargoids? Or will they only be operational during the Thargoid Thursday server tick?

Loads of narrative possibilities here, I really hope Frontier follow up on this and its not just for Galnet/Community Goal.

Where is John Connor?

Getting ganked in a starter system probably.

The Federation has announced that the Bulwark Project has reached a successful conclusion. Scores of pilots supported the campaign by delivering commodities to Jahn Dock. These will be used to research the possibility of an automated Federal defence force.

As the campaign drew to a close, Federal Shadow President Felicia Winters released a statement:

“My sincere gratitude goes to those who supported this campaign. But I want to remind you that we’re still some way from a fully automated defence force. The Bulwark Project’s initial remit is simply to establish the economic and military feasibility of such an enterprise.”

Meanwhile, opponents have continued to voice concerns that it could lead to the development of artificial intelligence, which is outlawed throughout the galaxy.

Pilots who contributed to the initiative can now collect their rewards from Jahn Dock in the Momoirent system.

I wonder if this is leading to some defensive drones for stations, megaships and cap ships that will be able to avoid the Thargoid EMP blasts.

Oh dear, that could be a problem for all the communist local factions in Federation systems. Not that I'm complaining...;)

I can just hear the comm traffic from the automated defense fleet now:

"Communism is the very definition of failure."
"Communism is a temporary setback on the road to freedom."
"Embrace democracy or you will be eradicated."
"Death is a preferable alternative to communism."
