So, SOL is offering lots of AX missions, but no Thargoids to kill?

So, following the call, I went back to Sol, transferred an AX ship there, accepted a mission to kill 64 scouts, and then flew around in Sol System, finding a total of 1 Thargoid scout over the course of hours.

I mean, Developers, seriously, is that supposed to be funny somehow? If there is a call for defending Sol, give us something to defend Sol from?

Found 3 more than you in 5 minutes :)

Though as I'm sure you know Alert systems don't tend to have that many Thargoids compared to other states. Taking on a 64 was ... hopeful. gl!

Wasn't the call for passenger ships to evacuate Sol?
I'm sure the call to fight will arrive later once the Thargoids get there.

There was a call to provide rescue capacity to Sol, in an in-game message. There was no call for armed defence of Sol. (Yet.)

If you fly out 100ly or so you can probably get a good price for that Invented Beef you're carrying around though.

Unlike the person you quoted/asked, i'm just a simple "casual" trying to make my way in the universe 👨‍🚀 , but here's what i did last nite to find mine: Fly into SOL system, solo mode ( or PG ) , drop into Nav Beacon zone and scan, pop back out into SOL supercruise space, fly around while checking panel-1 for any Unidentified Signal Sources to scan until i find either an AX Weapons Fire zone to drop into or an AX Ship Signatures zone to drop into.

Then just wait in those zones, while the AX NPC ships chatter, until eventually onboard computer will announce jarbled "Frame Shift Drive detected" and Thargoids will spawn.

Usually, for me at least, it was only a few 'scouts' at first. But i believe the higher Threat #'s should yield larger/tougher types of Thargoid ships like Interceptors & such. Anyways, the spawns would repeat for a couple cycles, the longer i waited in the zone. ( depending upon zone timer counter and depending upon how fast i destroyed them, since some zones have more green NPC AX helper ships who all fire upon any Thargoid spawns too )

At some point, for whatever reason, i'd stop seeing any Unidentified Signal Sources appear on radar anymore, no matter how much i'd fly around SOL system. Therefore, i would then hyperspace out to another nearby random system ( 1 or 2 jumps ) and just re-enter SOL system again to rinse/repeat above process.

There is a better way that I have found: Get a small passenger cabin equipped on your AX combat ship, jump out of the system. You will then be hyperdicted by the Thargoids, and they will use some ultra-fast stealing "drone" of sorts to abduct passengers. You have to rescue those, but on the plus side, lots of Thargoid targets are now available. More than you want, probably.

There is literally a battle for earth going on right now near Titan and Rhea. If you join the anti xenon initiative discord and check in "PC-looking-for-wing" channel you can ask for invites. Requires to be in the anti xenon initiative private group (simply search for it and join it, then log into it, not open play). As long as players are in that instance it will remain. For hours there've been 20-30 players, many Ints (Cyclops, Basi, Medusa), 1 Imperial capital ship, non stop / endless. It was the best blast I've ever had in the whole Thargoid war in 2 years! Will post more about it after I wake up again. Just can say I'd love to see more of that in Elite, it really showed what players are capable of, also social wise. The damn limit of 4 per wing needs to go though to avoid the merry go around we had to do.

P.S.: this instance ultimately proved the SLFs don't make a difference lag wise (such an old myth that won't die or hardly applies ingame anymore). Saw 2 flying around all the time despite so many players. Interestingly, the instance did not lag really, only sometimes an Int jumped around. I've seen worse at starport attacks with less people. It got a bit worse (SLFs were gone by that time), I suppose we reached some player peak there. ;) Yet totally playable! What you see below is just a fraction of what is going on there.

Slf rubber banding? Hm never came across that. I've seen Ints rubber banding but that is related to players, not specifically Slf.

Slf die way too fast during AX if flown by AI. I know as I keep using them except for this very large player instance. Yeah, IF you got skilled players it can be quite useful and lasting. And fun anyway.

Slf really needs something to make them last longer for AX. As well as allow multi crew in a wing and bigger wing limit anyway.

SLF is mobile chaff and infinite gauss (lance). Fragile, but if you get the AI to Elite, they can last a fair while and be good for cleaning up scouts. A human can last for a long time in a guardian SLF (in an AX fight)

I thought so too. I got my AI pilot back to Elite after I fired the previous one. Sadly, she does not last that much longer really. Yeah, with human pilots it works better. I love SLF despite the issues. Still, they need an upgrade.
