So THAT'S why Griefers are killing so many traders...

The error the OP makes is thinking there is a reason beyond "fun".

PvP is generally a lot more fun then PvE. Elite is also very short on content right now. These two elements makes even pure griefing appealing to non sociopaths. As elite adds content and adds realistic penalties expect the issue to be less deathmatch like.

Buzzkill! ^_^

sure but there is also a second part to it, where Devs explain in more detail that you actually get the points for killing a clean vessel. No I will not search for it.
Thing is they clean up the process and the part where system was awarding kill points was moved. It does not check for murder or bounty hunt kill. It only checks for a valid kill or something along the lines.

Hello Commanders!

Ya, I see what's happened here, I think. That patch note line is a little out of context thanks to its brevity. Basically, the place in the code that determines what combat rank points are awarded has moved from the code that dealt with murder crimes to somewhere else.

So really, it ought to say: don't award combat skill points when committing a murder... because we now add them at another point in the flow.

Apologies for the confusion, folks!

So combat rating increases currently only look at the ranks of the ships involved.

While typically unclear, my interpretation of this is that combat skill points are awarded in Anarchy systems, while killing Clean ships. If not, I've been getting rank ups for some other reason, because that's the only place I fight.
