So, the July Update is nearly upon us now so what do we think will be in it for everyone?

First release was April and ...
we will also be releasing a series of updates roughly every 3-4 months. The first two of these updates will primarily focus on new player and welcoming experiences, and we will also be introducing a number of quality of life improvements for the entire player base, of which we will have more news on in the coming weeks
.... so second should be July or August, but then Will posted ....
The next Interstellar Initiative, The Enclave, will commence in July
... and surely that will be related to the next update, despite Will saying ....
July is when the next Interstellar Initiative begins.

When we have more information to share about the next update, we'll surely let the community know!

So what do we think will be in the July update? It will be the second related mainly to new starts, so presumably more for them and I was wondering what other QoL updates we might get. I reckon (not in order):
  • Improved bookmarks - it's a common repeated request, and isn't a major UI change - I reckon this might happen
  • Improved outfitting. Main complaint is number of stored modules, but that list is unmanageable as it is, so I think they may redesign outfitting - maybe give us access to more of the information about modules and the ability to actually see paint jobs properly before we buy them. This would also tie in with helping new starts as the current outfitting is ... somewhat lacking. Not sure about this as outfitting may change considerably once we have Space Legs in 2020, in which case we will probably have to wait. Main thing they could do for new starts is help them work out how to improve their jump range, as that seems to stump a few.
  • Mode specific firegroups - if they're keeping the mode switch then only show the firegroups for the appropriate mode
  • Mission board rework - new starts keep failing to understand the depot usage, so maybe some work here
  • SC-Assist auto-throttle down - because it should have had it from the start, and the UI is trivial.
  • (A Longshot) Redesigned Station UI. The current one has grown organically so is a challenge for new starts (Limpets under Advanced Maintenance anyone?) And why is UC not bundled in Contacts. So they may redesign this - after all they re-did the markets UI last time.
  • Panther Clipper ;) (No, just kidding)
Struggling to think what else they can do for new starts - people seem to have issues with the vast amount of stuff you can do, and the fact it isn't well explained, but I don't know how you could solve that in the game - maybe those bespoke missions that were found a while back will finally appear?

Anyway - what do you think?

From a PS4 perspective would be useful for the frameshift de-throttle to have the option to just throttle back to 50% or whatever

It used to be that when jumping to a new system I would have to always de-throttle to 50% to start scooping and do the honk.

Now that I turned on de-throttle I now have to accelerate to 50% to start scooping and do the honk.

Let me jump without having to accelerate or decelerate at the end -- please.

But apart from that all is good.

I think I would just hope for a bug fixing patch I personally don't come up against loads of bugs but there are a quite a few raised things like conflict zones spawning, the random jitter and frame drops especially in VR.

I would like to see a mission board update and maybe some new missions.

My ultimate wish (but not expected) is to see something happen with the mission videos that leaked in the beta files.

You can set a combo under Controls on your dual shock controller (i have L1 + L2) to throttle down to 75% while hyperjumping. That is totally sufficient to honk and fuel scoop while circling around the star when you enter a new system

There will be no new features for the next update.
The whole team have been working on fixing my missing corroded paint jobs.

Bookmarks, stored modules organisation and bug fixes will do fine for me for now. Those are the big things for me, but everything else in the OP does need looking at sometime IMO. Some of these paint jobs really do need a look as well, especially where ship kits are concerned.

Some cheese and biscuits based rare goods wouldn't go amiss if there's time (Rare goods teas and no biscuits. How's a decadent Imperial supposed to work under these conditions?).

Great list!

I'm thinking Mission Packs...?

The first set might be for new users, but after that they could evolve into something like "quests" that help you unlock new cool gear ;-)

On XBox, I'd like KB support for control bindings, and mouse support at least for menus, but most of all, whether KB&M support comes in or not:

Let there be a return of the ability to bind controls from two or more input devices at the same time and NOT be locked to HOTAS-only or controller-only.

We had that ability before, and WE WANTS IT BACK, even if it returns still in the misleading-for-the-uninitiated state it was previously!

once we have Space Legs in 2020
😂😅

-> They will fix the skybox painted by the local star...
... but all planets will become beige again! FDEV needs beige somewhere, you gotta live with that... In 2020 probably our legs will be beige and all the rest will return to a more natural palette.

-> A couple of new SRV's. No just kidding.

... I don't expect anything tbh, I'm still upset by the whole situation in general. Maybe some bug fix and something else that I don't need at all like a new SLF.

I would be happy if they just fixed some of the long standing bugs, although they are not "game breaking" they are irritating as hell.

Personally, I think it will be more along the lines of August. They said every three to four months and knowing dev work as I do, it will probably be four. To be honest, they're not going to create something that applies to veteran players for this one (although obviously I'd like to be pleasantly surprised). The only things I can think of;-
  1. They could create missions where you require small stealthy ships.
  2. I'd like to be able to do something else with the planetary side settlements that have no landing pads apart from raiding them.
