So. the strangest thing happened...

I was just about to jump to another system when this pirate tries to interdict me. As I'm struggling to free myself, I notice that my FSD has been charged. Instead of aligning myself with the escape vector of the interdiction, I align myself with my target for the jump - lo and behold, my drive charges, that entire "blue interdiction spectrum" starts to go completely crazy and I make a dangerously violent jump to another star. While I'm laughing at the entire thing, I fail to notice that I just exited hyperspace incredibly close to the star - so close that the emergency stop kicks in and my heat levels go to 100% right away. That's also when I notice that I'm being attacked; I actually pulled the pirate with me in the jump because of the interdiction tether! We have the most intense battle I've ever had, considering we're both almost being devoured by the enormous star right next to us. I was victorious but barely got out alive, and man... that was the most awesome moment I've had with the game, I think.

So, has the whole interdiction jump thing happened to anyone else? Was it a bug? If it was, it shouldn't be - it should be a feature!

I've had this. An Imp Courier followed me to another system, and we both ended up in the Star.

It made me laugh, the Courier has serious heat problems, and he should have been saying "It Burns! It Burns!"...

I think its a bug though.

I have had one incident when a pirate tried to interdict me when I was charging up my FSD - it allowed me to escape to my jump destination, negating the interdiction. But I've never had it happen that I pull the pirate with me, or that as a result I've been dumped too close to the star.

Interesting. I wonder if it's a bug or intentional random behaviour?

I had a Vulture interdict me just as I was jumping, I thought I had got away & then he appeared with me at the next system by the star. We fought & I killed him (NPC) but I did think it was strange. So you might be onto something here :)

Yep it happened to me the other day. I was on a 3 jump trade route, got interdicted and fought it for a while then noticed that my destination was right infront of me so I ignored the escape vector and hit the FSD button.

I thought I was very clever when I came out on the other side but exactly the same thing happened - I pulled the pirate into the other system and we fell out of supercruise. I was in my Conda and couldnt be mass locked so I just jumped away again.

Excellent tale, pilot!

If this is a bug, I hope it stays in as a feature. Drama and action galore; and getting dragged along into transportation effects is a staple of SF.

no, but for the first time ever, about a week ago, a pirate in SOLO mode interdicted me in my T9 spacecow, then i was able to jump away, the darn pirate followed me, interdicted me again with the same slogan (give me your cargo or.. you know), got away with FSD again. And yes, pirat follows me as if i have honey on my trail. Then figured hey FD has created smarter pilots, so I stopped my FSD before pirat interdicts me in the hope he will not be able to follow me. The darn fella followed me anyway! I went to FSD again and tried to evade the interdiction, that cured the problem. Was suprized that I could stop the interdict with the T9 though, pirate was in a puny sidey... but your's sound more exciting close to the sun...

The same happened to me a few days ago. I got interdicted, managed to jump to my next destination, a bit closer to the star than I expected - only to realise that the interdictor was still on my six. Luckily it was an NPC, so I could shake him off.

Ive not pulled one with me but had a npc follow me three times after I jumped. Was hauling in a fully stocked T9 so was in run mode. He/she was giving it the "Im surprised you made it this far with that load" which was pretty cool. The NPC chat is quite entertaining on occasions.

I have also seen this, has only happened once, this was way before 1.3. In my case I was interdicted fairly close to the end of my jump. Upon arrival in the next system I see the pirate vessel on my scanners, and shortly after a low energy wake as the interdiction classed as failed and caused him/her to drop out.

I don't think it's a bug, as I make trade and mission runs i've had pirates pulled in with me, doesn't happen often but does happen and does add a certain spice, as long as it's a once in a blue moon thing, but pirates now chase you thru systems interdicting many times even following you to the station and attacking within the no fire zone.

I have no problem with being followed from system to system, etc. thats the point of the FSD wake scanners.

The bug is that if I was making a 40ly jump, I'd be pulling that pirate with me - a jump he very likely couldn't make.

Edit: I'm not going to report it as a bug though! :p

I'd still accept some timey wimey spacey wacey explaination as to how that could happen though.

Maybe pulling a pirate through a jump that is beyond his own jump drive would cause damage to the enemy vessel? or shorten the jump distance of yourself but dropping you out further apart.

if the timing is right and done correctly it could be a nice bug become feature :)

there's already the risk of failing the interdiction if you do attempy such a thing.

it's a risk vs reward thing again and an "anywhere but here" scenario.

Doesn't even strike me as a bug - makes sense to me. Two ships tethered together and one of them jumping, pulling the other alongside. Sounds like fun too :D and exciting!
