So the War?

I saw people but they didn't see me. Whenever I saw a Federal scumbag (player), my weapons had no effect. My session would crash about 5 mins in. To make matters worse, friendly NPCs kept attacking me too.

In E&C, I saw and interacted with other players. The only problem with using that scenario as a battleground is that we can't align ourselves to our respective factions.

Hopefully next time I can have a more meaningful input, even if it's exploding under a Feds withering fire.

Experiences were definitely a mixed bag, mine being similar to yours, I still enjoyed myself. At the other end of the scale Cmd Exaga's description is worth a read if you have skipped some of the posts. Its here

E&C would be ideal if could distinguish teams as you say.

I have on video in Impeccable Defence.. Kerrash and I and Listeri69 all in the same session... which was a good start...

BUT they had targets and a cap ship, I didn't....

It got a bit spooky when following Kerrash and he bounced off the capital ship, but to me.... he bounced off nothing...

VERY Strange...

this kind of activity happened a lot, with each of us experiencing different things while in the same instance... sometimes we'd crash..

For example Jenner kicked my ass, then for me.. she drove off into the sunset..

But for her... she found me invincible and then carried on in her instance...
So it was like our instance SPLIT and I went into one and she the other.

That is problematic for EPIC space battles... that WE ALL WANT!!!
This is basically what my ticket was about.

E&C would be ideal if could distinguish teams as you say.

The only way I can think to do at the moment is for one team to deploy their landing struts and the other their cargo doors (unless it weakens the ship).

Some CMDRs know their enemies by name and if there were to be blue on blue engagements, then it wouldn't be the first time in the history of warfare.

I saw a red bogey on my radar and targeted it. A few seconds later I found out it was Cmdr Jenner. It was time to party and rock n roll. I closed in and opened fire with his top canopy facing me. Cmdr Jenner quickly turned his ship around and with (what I assumed were) more powerful weapons than what I had expected took my shields down in a few short seconds. As I tried fiercely to do as much damage as I could before the inevitable 2 (maybe 3?) NPCs joined him and after that I had even less chance. I went down faster than a stone in a pond! :D

After logging back in 1-2 minutes later I killed a couple of NPCs and made haste towards Cmdr Jenner. Popping his ship as quickly and efficiently as possible. I took this screenshot as per FIS directives. As you can see there are still quite a few ships on the radar. This is what it was like for me for most of the battle. I did log in a few times where there was no NPCs (or another human player) but when i log out and back in again it usually put me in the familiar battle scenario once more.

I´m uncertain why some of you did not share the same experiences as me and saw what I saw. I had adrenaline running through my body and it felt awesome. Hope FD fix things soon so these instancing problem doesn´t stop you all from sharing the same glorious experiences. It really was intense.

Deadly, But very fluffy...
Yeah there was some strange stuff going on last night, i chose Empire(of course) but after taking a few Feds out i would get attacked by greens! happen a few times.

Saw Jenner getting attacked and took out the Fed pursing him(think it was Cmd Gemma?) but then Insanephoton got me later!

Saw him again later and was hitting hard but no Dam! and then he disappeared suddenly(we both think it was some problem with the instances after we chatted later)

Saw Perseus my other imperial bother for first time and iglooman(good seeing you both)

was fun but frustrating at times not always seeing other players, the E&C at the end was good and saw a few players there, so agree good place next time.

Oh and thanks for the banter from the Feds on FB was fun in its self ;)

This has been nagging away at me for a while - shouldn't it be Iota Crucis?

Wikipedia says that Crux is a constellation and Iota Crucis is a an orange giant star (spectral class K1 III) in the constellation Crux. It seems that you are correct about the spelling, Cody.

<edit> That is to say, if realism is the key factor here.

I'm trying to find the conditions to trigger friendly fire.
watch this.

its the most unfriendly thing I ever seen.
I'm still not sure but its like switching all power to engines triggers it.

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
@Exaga: Ug, that screenshot! The Shame! :)

Technical issues aside it was a magnificent engsgement! I had loads of fun with you all.

Lol. Can't wait to get stuck in with you lot when beta finally shows up.

'Dakka-dakka-boom!'

That is how I will mostly go.

Just out of interest are you also chatting about these issues on the alpha forum/submitting tickets?

Fun aside it looks like a useful stress-test of instances. Maybe useful if the devs decided to join in/sit and watch the server catch fire/whatever and see if they can track the issues (I speak from ignorance, all these issues may already be known with fixes in train).

I realized I never replied to this, but I intended to.

All of the bugs we've encountered have been brought up before elsewhere (Alpha forum/tickets/etc). I'm sure FD are aware of them.

Part of me is a little concerned that they are moving ahead with the next Alpha without first addressing (and testing) fixes to these issues, but I can only assume that this is because they have multiple teams all at work on things. The network/multiplayer group probably has been working full tilt of course, but that doesn't mean that the other teams' stuff (art, animation, models, outfitting mechanics, etc.) shouldn't be tested as well in upcoming releases. Otherwise these other groups would be twiddling their thumbs while the network code was debugged.

I don't envy FD in their task of polishing this game. It's gotta be stressful. :)
