So there's been expeditions to the core...

I am trying to map an entire cluster. Once I have done that, I plan on using the money to refit my Asp and then set out on circumnavigating the Galaxy as a tourist [go somewhere, take a picture, then move on.] not that worried if the systems have been previously discovered or not.

Here's where I was in March (orange marker) and currently am (blue):

You can get to 65,000 LY from Sol by going as far 'north' as possible, but area I'm currently in (*) seems to be the furthest you can get from the centre of the galaxy at just over 45,000 LY.

* - 45,000 LY is just to the right of where I currently am and was where I was yesterday; I've just started the trip home.

Allitnil: how big jump range you have, and do you reckon those places could be reached with shorter jumps?

The trip to the north was in a 25.8 LY Cobra so you don't need much to get to the 65,000 LY mark. I'm currently in a 39.4 LY Anaconda though and I think you would struggle to get to the full 45,000 from Sagittarius A* in much less. But you should be able to get to the general area with 30 LY.

Okay, thanks!

My first exploration was to the rim. I had a 27Ly asp, and occasionally it was difficult but just a case of going up 100Ly to see if there was a better path. The best paths did seem to be around the plane.

You mean here ?

Ocampa1.gif

If you get that far, swing by QAUTHAI HV-G C10-3, I have designated it Ocampa, it is utterly dull apart from that

Getting to the last arm is the only tricky bit. If you see the way I went, there is a bit of a bridge nearby for Cobras

currently parked near the rim in the New Outer Arm, coords around -28,000:200:2000 if memory serves.... I know of another 4 pilots that are currently, or have recently had an excursion out there too.... it's a surprisingly busy place, and more and more people seem to be heading out here all the time :)

The good thing about the rim is you can plot a course as opposed to the core when you have to do it manually due to star concentration.
