So they really replaced a Summer DLC and big update with the decorative update. Isn't a free gift something extra, not a replacement?

Evo summed it up in her video perfectly after the decorative update- its the difference between getting a bonus on top of your salary VS bonus instead of your salary!

It seems like the summer DLC/big update slot has been replaced with the decorative update and we're not getting anything else until September. If that's true would be really disappointing. Please provide us with some communication

Not all free updates with new content for video games are or have to be "BONUSES" or whatever you or she may like to call them. For some games, they are just as big of a deal as PDLCs. Planet Coaster did this, and I believe JWE1's Fallen Kingdom update was like that too. If there still will be three more DLC for this year, they might be just on a different schedule for said year akin to JWE1's first two or something like that.

Frontier will not say anything until or unless they have something to share.
