Hardware & Technical so this week i have killed.

two mother boards, Z97 and a formula Z. while waiting for them to be repaired I have to utilise an older one. DEPRESSED is the word.
killed by H100i cooler.:(
only got a 3 core cpu@3g, 12g ram gtx 660 x1.
wondering what min specs. I need a EDH fix :), not played for 4 days. [haha]

Better going for a custom water loop. Can't recommend EKWB enough. 20170423_191545.jpg

The hdd on the bottom is just storage. System runs on a raid 0 ssd array and app and game on a separate Evo 850 ssd

How you kill these?

overclocking?
no OC

I took apart cooler and found residue had blocked it.
lucky both MBs and cooler are still under warranty :) cooler is being replaced by latest model h100i 2. though I think I may build it myself.
was told by one tech from corsair. yes it is a known issue with the H100i. another on another day said its not an issue.

to much biocide?

I'm still on air cooling. Don't quite trust liquid yet. It's a bummer all around. Did nothing try to cut off before burning out?

I wouldn't trust liquid cooling on a pre-built loop, like the corsair series. But a good Quality self built one? It's really, really reliable.

Z97 = intel. different setup than amd. heat bent the pins on board that sit under the cpu.
formula z = amd and it just wont do nothing, but give me error code of FF. I put plenty of efin words in place of ff.

the first 2 ram slots weren't getting read, 2 were. put an air cooler on and it kept the cpu cooler than the liquid cooler.
the following day it wouldn't boot at all.
debating on requesting compensation from corsair for selling dodgy equipment.

Good luck with that. I mean, they technically should since their cooling element failing caused the damage, but I'm sure they won't see it that way. If everything that busted is covered under warranty, that's probably the least frustrating path.

Well, speak of the devil. I think the guy that built my PC soldered the CPU and cooler together. CPU popped right out with the fan and I can't get the processor off the block for love or money. And of course, I can't get the unit back onto the motherboard cause the radiator blocks the CPU locking arm.

Oh well, it was an 7 year old CPU I got just about free. Time to upgrade! Why does DDR4 RAM have to be so expensive?
