So, what is everyone flying about these days?

Care to post your loadout? I have always fancied one, but the general consensus is it's a brick, albeit perhaps a nokia kind of brick lol. What do you love about it? Honest question.
As per your request (copied from PM):

Here's a link to my current load-out: http://coriolis.io/outfit/federal_d...hrSu9jo==.EwBhrTIRitgcIA==?bn=Droppin' Plasma
And here's a slightly more practical (but less fun) build that I used for a while: http://coriolis.io/outfit/federal_d...b.AwRhrSutjo==.EwBhrTIRizgUA===?bn=Pot Drop I

I decided to go with the double chaff and single booster for two reasons. 1) Even with 3 boosters and the best shield generator, the dropship's shield isn't that great. 2) The dropship's powerplant is easy to hit, and its armor is extensive. Chaff prevents people from targeting subsystems with anything but fixed weapons, and allows your armor to actually be relevant.

It's nice to have some turrets on board, since the dropship's maneuverability is... different. The class 2 pulse turrets may not do a ton of damage, but it's pretty easy to keep an enemy ship in their firing arc, and the consistent damage adds up fairly quickly. On the subject of the dropship's different maneuverability, its pitch / yaw / roll are actually quite good. Surprisingly so. More so than the python, or so it feels. As such, fixed weapons are actually fairly viable. It's easy to get a lot of damage in with a fixed beam, even against smaller targets. The reason the dropship's agility rating is so low however, is presumably due to its acceleration. The thing drifts like crazy. It takes ages to get going, and even longer to change direction. Conversely, if you hit boost even while going full reverse, you'll end up going way over max speed forward. It's very all-or-nothing, making it tough to quickly get into position. That drift is what makes the ship so fun, though. Once you get used to it, it's practically like flying with FA-Off, only with rotational stabilization. You can pull off some really interesting maneuvers, and even casually orbit larger targets while keeping your guns trained on them.

In addition to the unique handling characteristics, the dropship has something else going for it: it's freakin' heavy. If you end up ramming something (or being rammed), chances are you're going to come out of it looking pretty good. I've had several cmdrs in vultures try to pull a combat ram off on me, only to take catastrophic damage, and quickly be cleaned up. It certainly doesn't hurt that most people see a dropship, and thing, "easy win". Very entertaining.

Asp, Vulture, Type 7 and I still have a Hauler somewhere, should passenger missions ever come out. I do undermiming and general combat in the Vulture, trade for a Python in the Type 7 and exploring in the Asp.
