Well they went on a 6 month hiatus, came back with a serious force, now they are gone again.
You can still find them in Pleiades and Witch Head, but no stations are getting attacked.
So they lost so many ships that they can not afford further attacks, but at the same time, are not coordinated or decided enough to draw the right conclusion and retreat.
Or maybe those leftovers are waiting for the main force to arrive, now that their avantgarde has been defeated.

[I mean, from a game designer point of view, a massive, dramatically overpowered Thargoid invasion force makes a lot of sense: it burns a lot of player money, gives people a goal to play for (actually, two, since you'll also want to re-earn some money) and adds to the drama of the Elite universe.]

There's nothing in the Thargoid Activity area because there's no incursions.

You can still find thargoids in the Pleiades area if you feel like going into their yard picking flowers

I am now in Asterope. The system is teeming with nonhuman signals of threat levels 3-9.

Yeah the NHSS in that area are (hopefully) always there, same as the witch head nebula area.
I am rarely anywhere else, basically if i am not grinding something for whatever reason, thats where you will find me, badly fighting the good fight

I am just getting my feet wet with Thargoids these days - flying my beloved Mamba with various loadouts to see what works best against the scouts. Eventually, I will try to take on the bigger Thargoids, but it is quite possible that a Mamba simply cannot solo them.
