What builds are people making with the Space Mercedes Benz?

I'm goofing around in this one currently:

I wanted the huge Plasma Acc but couldn't find one for sale so ended up putting the large fixed beam instead, and it turned out to work OK. Sometimes takes a while to get the shields down on Anacondas and Pythons but once they are down the 4 multicannons just eat them up. The shields on this thing are super tanky and I may be able to add a 0A Shield Booster instead of the PDTs.

It's not a bad ship but Cobras and Vipers can still outrun you, and I've come close to running out of gas in a deserted system twice now. That tiny gas tank is a real kill joy.

Over charged multicannon! Have you been holding on to these since gamma or did you find these new?

Nice! You do realise that there's Class 3 Plasmaccs now right? You could always throw one of those on instead and it should save some power. They are available here at Jenner Hub in Zaragas. I'd definitely drop one PDT and one chaff for a shield booster though... they make a HUGE difference, and even the D rated one I have on my Vulture makes a massive difference.

But I read in the beta forums the shield boosters just about wipe out your shield regeneration. Is this still true, or did they make the drawback not as severe for live 1.2?
 
What really? You were able to keep those overcharges multi-cannons after they were removed? Brings a tear to my eye.

if your shields go down. turn the boosters off until your shields recharge. turning the shield boosters off lowers the recharge back to normal.

after shields are back up, pop a shield cell and turn your boosters back on.

I stashed several away on disposable Vipers during Gamma in case they ever became hard to find. Paranoia pays off. :p

Man you got my hopes up they had snuck em back into the game somehow. So jealous, I really miss those babies.

I ran the FDL in beta with twin beams, twin gimballed multi-cannon and the big gimballed cannon underneath.

If there was C2 Burst, I'd use those instead of the beams. Also had a A4 SCB and a A Shield Booster.

I set up the power priority set in such a way that turning the cannon off would power up the KWS and Wake scanner.

Oh that's a really good idea. I'll see if I can squeeze a shield booster into that ship. With FSD, cargo hatch, fuel scoop set on low priority it may have just enough power.

It's about 2 extra shield circle wedges per installed A booster. I can't remeber exactly but I tested it yesterday on my Python, no where near as bad as in beta.

That works a treat - though the shields come back with a weaker strength. It's still takes the same amount of time to reach full boosted charge. But you have the option to pop a SCB but you do spend less time with no shields.

If only I could afford the beauty. I just travelled 230 Ly in a taxi hauler with 30.9 million dollars to get a Vulture, but I would much rather an FdL (If only the hologram didn't look bugged). :D

People are reading into it incorrectly in my opinion. What 'really' happens is that the shield booster adds extra shields, but the recharge stays the same. so it looks like the recharge is slower when it's not. It just has a tonne of extra shield to recharge so it takes longer.

Recharge stays the same... there's just a lot more to recharge.
 
I'm still playing about with setups. I love the huge plasma accelerator on my Anaconda but have been happier with a 3 beam and 2 multi-cannon config on the FdL as it's let me fit better thrusters.

This is true but with one caveat. The boosters do make it take longer for the shields to come back up after they've been taken offline so in a way they 'effect recharge' but not in the way folks are saying. :)
 
If the power plant can handle 23MW with some priority shifting I should have no problem adding a couple shield boosters. I'll give that a try.

Thrudd's internals look just like mine, except I don't have the AFM or interdictor. I should probably ditch the adv discovery scanner and swap it for an interdictor since this is the bounty hunter's ship and all. Is the AFM unit any good now that the reboot/repair ability is built into every ship ?

Edit: umm no his has 4 times the cargo capacity of mine. I see he's got the Trader Fer de Lance model.

What's this "everyone" you're referring to, OP? Basically, nobody can afford the damn thing, kickstarter backers and the occasional, dedicated trader notwithstanding. :)

Yeah I cant help it, I need to have SOME cargo space even on my combat ships hehe
More important now there's some expensive salvage out there waiting to be gathered :)

AFM is just there so I don't need to worry about any heat damage causing me to have to return to station, not that I've needed it with this build yet. I might drop it but it's kind of fun to have. I was actually thinking about dropping it for the Adv Scanner :)
 
Fer de Lancii

You've butchered puralising "Fer de Lance". It's French so the correct plural is "Fers de Lance", though as we're speaking English "Fer de Lances" is ok too. It's certainly not Latin and even if it was it wouldn't get the "ii" plural form.

On topic, I tried the plasma with quad multicanons (not overcharged of course - nice job holding on to those!). The plasma was great when I could land a shot which wasn't often against good pilots in quick ships. I'd like to try it was a gimballed beam so I can get all weapons on target at once but I'm not sure I will as I've concluded that the Python is better.

Are you telling me that a specific group of people got to keep their better weapons even after they were removed for everyone else??
