So whats next feature update planned after PowerPlay?

I vote for group missions. Give us more things to actually do in group, please. The game was marketed as "mmo", but activities which actually are beneficial to be done in group are really few.
 
Hopefully adding NPC contacts, better and more varied missions and chains, given a sort of procedural narrative you can follow for a while. Would love to see more sense of direction and mission types from classic space sims like escort missions and such.

Seconded plus:

- features for player-emergent content
- more station interiors, and decorations for each power
- NPC models walking around inside stations and hangars
- inflatable asteroid station
- some big ships with external docking such as carriers.
- Thargoids as a Powerplay faction and elite bosses.

i really wanted to know what Frontier has planned for 1.4 - not the wishlist of what community wanted! I already know what the community wants - i'm just curious if Frontier has "leaked" any basic details?

Galnet news today says on the 16th there will be an announcement and if you read it carefully to me it supports the notion of arena play. Federation will announce something that "trains" youth to be better fighters, etc.
 
Personally I'd like to see the beginnings of describing a supply/chain economy- I don't care if it's not implemented right away, just love to see some plans. Something like this...

Station interiors, work on missions, and a more sophisticated NPC chat system that checks various data in order to provide a more contextual/situational response (such as described here), would also be very welcome.

I assume they'll want to make use of the new mission system. They've said the framework they have now would allow for more and more varied missions, so I assume we'll see that. If they could just do that and plug a bunch of holes I'd be happy. The foundation is really great, now we just need to have it shine. :)

- Multicrew ships
- More sophisticated resource scanning for exploration
- Component manufacturing (being able to produce stuff sold on the market) - this has a huge potential of adding all kinds of jobs / missions
- more galactic content: gas clouds / nebulae / quasars / neutron starts - opportunity to scan or collect resources for exploration
 
Some of these would be on my personal list.


- A visual fleshing out of space stations. Small details and variety would go to make them feel more alive. Containers being moved, robots, people in buildings. All that kind of stuff. A couple more unique designs would be nice too.


- Branching missions. By the nature of space being the backdrop there's always going to be an element of activities being the same, so until we can visually interact with others on ships or in space stations, the story we carve has to add to the idea you're making you're blazing your own trail. This should go for all of the professions and lead to rank increases depending on what you do.


- Smooth out powerplay, bring the characters to life. The illustrations are beautiful but 2D. Model some 3D versions and give them basic animations, even if it's just head and shoulders with blinking, grimacing, evil smiles, a few lines of chatter etc. It's a 3D world, give us 3D people! I'm hoping the extra powers they add give more variety. They're all a little generic and right wing for my liking. Give us some heroes!

I look forward to an Arena type game, if that's what is coming. I played the original Elite, and some death match would be great fun providing it doesn't make the in game fighting seem like it's ugly sibling by comparison. Some great backdrops with fights around capital ships for example would be good fun.
