So... where is everybody?

As the title states... I've been flying around for a couple of weeks now, and it has occurred to me that I can probably count the amount of player controlled CMDR's on one hand.

I know space is big, but I'm starting to think something might be broken. I've been to all known high-traffic hubs; each seem to be practically empty.

Lots of people have become fed up of the game and quit.

This is not the first thread you have written this kind of statement in, just give it a rest will you.

The game has more twitch streams and more peoples watching the streams than ever before.

Now show some evidence for what you are stating please.

Ontopic

Most of the time i find commanders are around the Galnet news systems, Sol, Lave or the starting systems. Its worth remembering though that the Galaxy is huge and instanced so there may be many commanders in a system but you cannot see them :)

Hmm the invisible FD hand shows its presence...

Many will have changed to solo play to avoid the issues with open play. Such as docking problems and forced PvP. I know I haven't played in open since last wipe.

The best places to see players are popular war zones (i.e. Ho Hsi) or at rare hubs like Lave.

You might be having connection trouble if you don't see players in those areas.

I've seen plemty of CMDRs, even in some relatively out of the way systems. Maybe you play at an offpeak time?

And to Limpbiscuit - your name is apt, kinda glass half full ain't you? Judging from how busy these forums are, and the general tone of the posts, most people are pretty happy with the game. By comparison with a lot of MMOs the launch was damn near faultless. There are some bugs but nothing game breaking. It's a great game as it stands and has the potential to be much, much better still. If you can't see that, then maybe it's just not for you. No biggy, move on.

Also keep in mind you need to be in the same instance as the other CMDR(s).

We play in Private Group, at least until Wings hits. Everyone lives within 30km of each other and all frequent the same system as 'home', yet we are sometimes in a different instance and don't see each other. TeamSpeak involves a lot of 'are you here? really? where? can't see you in Contacts. Oh well'.

Also, your internet connection may be the issue. ED uses the unfortunate peer to peer connection when handling multiplayer grouping, so if your ISP is blocking certain traffic on your network, you are screwed.

HYPUAE AIN OF-D B27-0, and i would be very surprised indeed if i met you here. :D

I'm only 11,500 light years away from you

You have been to stations that have hundreds or thousands of ships listed as having passed in the last 24 hours? Like Leesti (next to Lave) or ones on Galnet news (Sorbago last week).

If so, maybe a Port Forwarding issue on your router, NAT Strict type of thing?

You should see another player every time you come into dock at somewhere like Leesti.
