Hi All,

Given the Lave Radio audio play that's in-the-works, (and that I've also got an 'Elite' script wending its way towards performance) - I'm starting to wonder 'who they are for'.

I know I listen to them but I normally get funny looks from people when I say this.

So, I thought I'd ask...

[edit - Thank you T.j :) ]

Well obviously I'm an enormous fan, given that I'm writing and producing the audio serial for Lave Radio.

I'd actually say now that I listen to more audio fiction than I watch television. I love the fact that I can enjoy it while driving, running, doing housework. More and more I find that TV doesn't hold my attention and I'd rather be listening to something.

A good case in point is Doctor Who. My favourite audio production company is Big Finish, whom I discovered through their officially-licensed Doctor Who serials. I realised the other night, while watching the new Doctor Who episode, that I actually now prefer Doctor Who on the radio to the stuff that goes out on TV.

Yes! I think if you're into radio drama you're really into radio drama. I just worry about being in a very tiny bubble.

I really do hope your serials get a proper listening to! I'm amazed (happily!) that the E:D community is large enough to support the Lave Radio podcast as it is.

I will enjoy the drama regardless of not usually listening to it. i think if its targetted to the Elite universe it should be entertaining and a laugh. It should also get us all ready to take to the skies when it launches!!

One ? added, all you had to do was ask :D

And do The Goon shows count?

normally I never say never, but there wasn't an option of "once in a blue moon", however, considering I listen to numerous podcasts, I don't think an Elite based radio drama would be too difficult to listen to & you never know, it might get me hooked

The mainstream these days often tends to overlook the fact that Doug Adams' own Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy was originally that rarest of beasts, a wildly popular audio drama.

I ADORE audio plays. I have a great collection of them. A favourite is a really old BBC one called "Orbit One Zero". That one is just amazing.

LOVE old radio plays and new ones. I listen to them daily. I love Old Time Radio.

Seconded! The Big Finish CDs for Doctor Who and now Blake's 7 are just wonderful.

I heartily recommend them to anyone yet to discover them (and no, I'm not an employee of Big Finish!).

It is easy to forget that. I still have it on cassette.

I don't have a tape player any more, but still...

In the early days of the Internet, I used to listen to all kinds of old plays, series from radio, but since The Man realised its [the Internet] not just a toy or fad and has been trying to take over (make us pay them for) OUR Internet it become so much of a pain that I rarely have time to make the effort. :( and I just cant be bothered with iTunes anymore.

I listen to the occasional Big Finish/Doctor Who production. Also really enjoyed Hitchickers Guide to the Galaxy. My other favourite radio-play was The Lord of the Rings, which I much prefer to the Peter Jackson films (though that's not difficult). Come to think of it, I think they did some Chronicles of Narnia ones at some stage, and I also really enjoyed some of the John Wyndham ones that the BBC did back in the day.

Will definitely be listening to any Elite ones that get produced.

I used to listen to radio plays years and years ago, but basically never do nowadays. Having said that, I'll definitely have at yours :)!

Back in the day, I really enjoyed the Hitchhiker's Guide, and the BBC adaptation of the Lord of the Rings.

Now that I'm newly ipoded, I might well get into audio books and audio plays again

Does anyone remember Earthsearch? About the same age as Elite itself, ran for ages.

Ahh the excellent Earthsearcvh by James Follet.

Earthsearch I then II then Earthsearch Mindwarp. :)

I need to seek out this 7th Dimension.

Most of the radio plays I listen to are from the 40s,50s.
I really love Dimension X and also the incredibly scary "Lights Out".
