So who precisely of you fine folks had the vision of "improving" the graphics after 4 years?

So who precisely of you fine folks had the vision of "improving" the graphics after 4 years?

Serious: who?

Four years of crisp and beautiful immersion.

Turned into a washed out, cartoony looking, garishly lightened imitation of the former, which looks like my graphics card is dying a slow and cruel death.

And for what? So that some asteroid belts glow brighter? Some planets shine more? While the rest of the universe, including, nonsensically, all HUD elements and even entirely separate screens like the galaxy map, suffer from the same "improvement"?

I am an older player. Like really older. When I can't, even with my reading glasses, read stuff on a screen easily anymore, someone goofed up.

It's a bit hazy for me. I liked how crisp it used to be.

I think you're being a bit harsh about it. Just let them know that you'd prefer it toned down.

I decided to map Alnitak, a belt star, and the planets there (due to the star) look cartoonishly pink-purple. So far, I'm not impressed by the new lighting.

I'm being harsh and I dont care. Its rubbish. Who did this? Whos brainfart was it? Who signed off on this Improvement? The only real thing ED had going for it was the graphics, now they are more meh than no mans sky

Have to agree it’s very washed out and chromy. Am trying to adjust settings on my TV (console gamer) but that means I need to adjust back to watch TV. So far it’s a great ad for Red Dead Redemption. I’m sad tonight, genuinely so.

I don't know what you lot are on about. I put it down to my monitor. Mine looks crisp, the stars have an interesting oily look to them. I might set my gamma down a bit but I like the changes.

You think it looks bad on a flat screen (or CRT - you're "old" right?), you should see it in VR! Its horrible!

You'ld think ED wasn't the best game ever for VR by the way they are making decisions at FDEV...

Hopefully FD will either reduce the tinting to the bodies of the system you're in and will leave the backgroud and the HUD as it was or they give us an opportunity in the settings to use the old lighting method.

Or at least a slider of how intensive the tinting should be ...

This is awesome.

Reddit: Wow, this game looks awesome! Finally, great exploration gameplay! This game really has come to live now!
Steam: Wow, this is amazing! 92%!
PC Gamer: Wow, I'm all ready to dive back in!
Here: Everything is terrible. Btw, why dont the devs talk to us here?

[haha]

Someone with a vision, Mr Heisenberg.

Someone with the authority to push it through.

I like the new lighting! :D

Well most of times at least. Inside stations feels too "foggy" and overbright compared to before. But in space and on planets is excellent. I do agree that the lighting colors affecting the entire screen is weird though.

Yeah, the stations are too foggy and overbright.

Another thing I noticed is that distant planets are bathed in much less sunlight. Not saying that's a bad thing, though.
