So why did Odyssey reset my Horizons Holo-Me to the default bald guy?

And why can't I change my size and bump my head for immersion?
But seriously - it put me off to have to have a Holo Me at all and go through the routine to fix it somewhat.
I much preferred the default egghead. Blonde hair looks really bad.

I believe this was specified it would happen in one of the dev posts.

Somewhere in there.

People going bald and white haired with an overexposed picture that whitewash all the details of the face ? I checked, they don't mention that. They mention that you will get a "default" helmet on avatar for various compatibility issues. But that's not the issue there.

Ahh I see, misread as OP's Horizons holo me was reset after they opened Odyssey and went back.

Never mind. Carry on!

Yes that is what happened. And to make matter worse, I had two saves of my Holo-Me with different suits just to be safe. Both are now bald men in black rubber suits and helmets. I think I will just leave it this way. That way there is one less disapointment to be had in the future. It was nice while it lasted. Thx for the immursion FDev.

I know this is an old post, but this bug just happened to me. I loaded up my Cmdr in Horizons, noticed I was bald and looked a bit different. Went back to Odyssey and my character was still bald and, more importantly, the head and facial customization options were reset.

Thankfully I have 5 other copies of this head (don't judge, I'm paranoid, and a couple of em have different glasses or helmet states for easy swapping 😝), so I was able to overwrite baldy's save file easily once I went back to Odyssey. I then went back into Horizons with my now corrected character to confirm this behavior, and again, that head was reset to default, and that reset persisted when I loaded back into Odyssey.

I'd say this is a pretty critical issue that needs to be addressed ASAP. Many of us have spent a lot of time perfecting our Holo-Me's, and not everyone keeps a backup (or 5 in my case).

This is indeed 100% what happens though. Loading into Horizons after playing Odyssey resets customizations on whatever holo-me you have selected at that moment permanently, even after you go back to Odyssey.

It does not seem to affect any of your other holo-me saves.. Once I'm in Horizons, I can load any other holo-me save and it'll be fully intact, even ones that I've used or even created within Odyssey. It's only the one save that you have selected during the transition from Odyssey to Horizons that gets reset, so it has nothing to do with compatibility.

Time to file a bug report if one doesn't exist already. Only reason I'm necroing this post is for visibility because it could result in permanent loss of your holo-me if you aren't careful. Be sure to make a couple backups of any faces you care about.

You know what I did? I took a screenshot of all the holo-me options with sliders and settings in Horizons. And after jumping to Odyssey, I recreated my holo-me by setting the sliders to the same positions. :)

I've had this happen to me a few times, before the recent patches. It was usually because of switching between Horizons and Odyssey while having Odyssey-exclusive cosmetics applied to your cmdr. Horizons doesn't know what to do with your avatar since it doesn't have the assets it needs, so it just...panics and reverts it back to default, which carries back into Odyssey.

How do you make backups and restore Holo-Me's? I can have multiple Holo-Me's to choose to load up? Which one is the default your currently using for Horizons?
